How did I become an acupuncturist? The short version of the story is... by accident. I was originally a pre-med student. I took a break from my undergrad in Biochemistry to study abroad. My travels took me to India, China, and South Africa where I did a comparative study of their health care systems from a governmental and public policy perspective. I had the opportunity to do field research and chose to examine each country's indigenous medical system and how it affected the... way people perceive and receive healthcare. This involved observing Ayurvedic medical clinics in India, shadowing acupuncturists and herbalists in Chinese super-hospitals, and palling around with an African herbalist and witch doctor named Tumela. I was totally intrigued by the depth and efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. I wrote my thesis on the integration of Eastern and Western Medicine for cancer care in Chinese hospitals and the superior outcomes of Chinese Medicine + Chemotherapy as opposed to Chemotherapy alone. When I returned to the States, I couldn't stop thinking about what I'd seen, and enrolled in Bastyr University's Masters in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Program. I studied for three and a half years, returning to China for a capstone program in Shanghai with clinical rounds in Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, and Pediatrics at the ShuGuang Hospital, associated with the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I had planned to follow through with my goal of becoming an acupuncturist and MD, but was seeing enough success with acupuncture and herbs that I kept putting it off. In 2017, I moved from Seattle to Rockland County, NY and opened the Azamra Acupuncture Clinic. We've been open three years and I can't see myself stopping anytime soon. It's such a pleasure to relieve chronic pain and illness in a lasting way, without side effects or lifelong medications. Chinese Medicine has tremendous depth and history, and it's my honor and privilege to use this System of Medicine to heal my friends and neighbors in Rockland County. Daniel Rose, L.Ac

This picture doesn't actually have to with acupuncture. I just enjoy drinking tea and it makes a nice picture. The tea on the left is a high mountain oolong from my friends Daniel and Huei-Ling who own the Taember Tea company in Seattle. You should really check them out. Their teas are delicious! https://www.facebook.com/Taember-Tea-1622183338017337/ The tea on the right is a combination of chrysanthemum flowers and goji berries. These are both Chinese Herbs we use in the cli...nic but double as a delicious drink. The natural sweetness of the berries makes sugar unnecessary. Plus, This tea is super high in antioxidants, clears red and itchy eyes, protects the liver, and is an attractive centerpiece in a glass teapot. Highly Recommend! https://www.chinasichuanfood.com/chrysanthemum-tea-with-go/
