Columbus Day Weekend Check-Out Procedures For Cedar Beach Marina and Campground Attention Campers and Boaters: As a courtesy to all residents, we have extended check out on Monday, October 12, 2020 from 10am (campers)/11am (boaters) to 3pm for all residents. All boaters and campers are required to vacate Cedar Beach Marina and Campground by 3pm on Monday, October 12, 2020.... Please be aware that all bathrooms at the facility will be closed at 2pm on Monday, October 12, 2020 for staff to begin the cleaning and closing procedures. Thank you for staying with us this summer! Power is still out at all Town beaches, but we have secured a dedicated PSEG crew to work on the issue. Bathroom facilities at these beaches require electricity to operate, so they remain closed. In the meantime, temporary porta-potties are being placed at each facility starting in the early afternoon today. Therefore, if you are... planning a trip to the beach today, please take into account the restroom limitations and plan accordingly! Cedar Marina parking lot will only be open to boaters and campers who are currently at the facility. Gilgo Marina is currently closed to all boaters. Venetian Shores is open with swimming. Tanner Park is open, but swimming is prohibited.

All Town of Babylon Ocean beaches (Overlook Beach, Cedar Beach, Gilgo Beach) will be closed today, Wednesday, August 5, 2020, due to storm clean-up & power outages. Tonight’s drive-in concert at Overlook Beach is cancelled. Venetian Shores Beach is open to residents with a 2020 beach pass (swimming is allowed). Tanner Park is open for residents with a 2020 beach pass, but swimming is not allowed.

Beach yoga is cancelled tonight, Tuesday, August 4, 2020, due to the storm.

The Town of Babylon Parks Department is happy to announce that we will be offering outdoor music lessons this summer! Lessons will begin the week of July 6 and run for 5 weeks. Individual music lessons are offered to beginner, intermediate, and, in some cases, advanced music students. Instruction is offered on most band and orchestra instruments, and electric keyboards. Voice lessons are also available. Each lesson will be a half hour per week for five weeks, and will take pl...ace at a scheduled time between 9 am and 3:30 pm. Some exciting news, looking ahead to the summer of 2021: Construction on the Ocean Parkway Shared Use Path extension from Tobay Beach to Captree Park is underway and currently at Gilgo Beach! Crews are currently installing a bridge over the underpass at Gilgo that will be used by bicyclists, joggers and rollerbladers upon its opening in 2021. We will have a Summer on Long Island, it will be different, that is for certain, but we will have a Summer on Long Island Tune in for a Facebook Live Event at 10:30am announcing an unprecedented partnership between all 13 Long Island Town Supervisors: the Nassau/Suffolk Towns’ Summer Operations Task Force. Supervisor Rich Schaffer, head of the Suffolk County Supervisors Association, will be joined by his 12 counterparts across Long Island via Zoom to discuss how the townships will work together to ensure clear and concise guidance and public health measures as we begin to plan for Summer.

A Message From The Commissioner of Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Affairs Dear Campers and Boaters,... I hope this email finds you safe and healthy! The Parks Department is coming up with plans for an enjoyable summer, while keeping everyone safe within the CDC guidelines. The Town of Babylon is asking residents to utilize online services and/or call rather than visit town facilities in an attempt to limit traffic throughout our buildings as a precaution for the wellbeing of yourself and others. The Parks Department will begin the sale of camping, boating, and Jet Ski permits on Monday, June 8, 2020. Camping and boating reservations will begin on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 9am because it is an online service. Residents DO NOT NEED a permit in order to make online reservations. If you need your user id and/or password, please call our office. We can assist you over the phone. Boat slips and campsites will be available for the 2020 season. Opening day for Cedar Beach Marina & Campground will be June 26th for the 2020 summer season (there will not be a preseason this year). NOTICE FROM NYS: "Governor Cuomo has announced the state is increasing the maximum fine for violations of the state's social distancing protocol from $500 to $1...,000 to help address the lack of adherence to social distancing protocols. The Governor reminded localities that they have the authority to enforce the protocols. " In light of increased reports of gatherings at Town parks and beaches, the Town will be stepping up enforcement of this NYS mandate. Town of Babylon Bay Constables and Park rangers will be patrolling and are authorized under the Governor's order to write summonses for a fine of $1000. We will be seeking permission from the state to turn over any fines collected to the "First Responders Fund" - this fund assists COVID-19 health care workers and first responders with expenses and costs, including child care. It is administered by the New York State Department of Health.

The next session of Parent and Tot will have registration on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 9am. Classes will begin the week of June 15, 2020.
