As farmers it's comforting to know during these tough times in life our animals remain content. They relax and almost give us a peace that all is well or all is going to be well. If you have time today stop and just observe them. It might give you the same peace.

Even though it seems that everything is standing still, spring is here, flowers tulips and other spring flowers and grass is greening up. We have been getting fertilizer out to many farms and doing lots of soil samples. It's a great time of year to be a farmer. While everyone else is holding up at home we as farmers have a great opportunity to get out and prepare for spring!

One of the big buzz words of our day is " health Care". Who's going to pay for it, how are we going to make it better, just some questions being asked. Then you have the erosion of small town America. If you go into many of there small towns you see large old farm houses and big townhouses. These houses if built today would cost a fortune. What was once large family homes have become rental properties and many of the ok'd farm houses are void of the land around them. Wh...at has happened, where did all the money go? What has changed our agriculture system has had an effect of our local economies. Not only from a physical aspect but a health care aspect. Milk is a great example. Right now small family farms are disappearing at an alarming rate. A town that once had many dairies maybe down to one or two and some are down to none. The farther we remove the food from us the more health care becomes an issue. The more processed our food gets the more health care becomes an issue. Balanced Biological Solutions LLC is committed to bringing the food web back to create it's own ecosystem. As they say so goes the soil, so goes the farms, so goes the people, so goes the community, so goes the fabric of rural America. Our focus is on Nutrition. Nutrition of the soil is where it starts. If you want the best health Care program in the world you have to start remineralizing the soil. The small herd of cows in the picture is another place where health Care is developed. Feeding a nutrient dense ration to your cows will promote tremendous health of the animals themselves. The cows also build immunity towards current strains of germs that are out there effecting each local area. It's interesting how we can infact protect our own health by working with these great animals. Healthier people make healthier families which improve local communities. For those of you who think that health Care is a national problem, remember it was a rural, local problem first. Let's stop looking for band aides and start fixing our broken system. Instead of thinking globally let's start locally!

What determines a great product? As we look at health care in this country and no matter what side you are on, you feel that it is a big issue. One of the greatest things being overlooked on this issue is the local farm. What really makes a person healthy? Is it the drugs we take every day for a particular disease?, Is it the doctor that we visit for regular check ups? Or is it what we put into our mouths and minds?. What does Superior Dairy Herdmanship look like on our dairy farms today. I look back many years when farms were much smaller and the talk of the local farms that you could walk in there barns at anytime and the floors were spotless, cows tails were clean and washed and brushed. Each cow had a name and the old farmer talked to each one of them. Today our model has changed, at least on a much larger scale. Though I admire the old days I think we have gained a lot of advance...ment. One thing that will always stay the same though is the foundation of our soils and the nutrient balance it takes to maintain it. I think many of the farmers today when times are tough look at the value of what they produce as good.
