Town of Brookhaven has issued a State of Emergency. No garbage pick up tomorrow and please stay off the roads so the plows can do their job and emergency vehicles can get thru if needed. Also get any vehicles off the street when possible.

For the next 24 hours I dedicate my page to all the lives lost, those left behind and the first responders still suffering today. My page will remain silent tomorrow as we remember and reflect. Nineteen years ago tonight, thousands of people in this country went to bed with their loved ones for the last time. Some were excited, looking forward to the trip they’d be taking in the morning. Others were perhaps dreading the usual commute to work. How many of them were rushed th...e following morning? How many didn’t make time to kiss their kids or their spouses? They mumbled a quick goodbye and headed out the doornot knowing it would be the last time they’d see their loved ones. Tomorrow is promised to no one. Take nothing and no one for granted. Tell him or her that you love them. Forget the diet and eat the cookie. Make love. Stay up late. Apologize, even if it wasn’t entirely your fault. Forgive, even if they don’t know what they did was wrong. Laugh. Cry. Scream. Go for a walk. Find shapes in the clouds. Do something nice for someone. Let someone do something nice for you. Stop waiting for things to happen. Get off your ass and enjoy life. While you’re at it, help someone else enjoy their life as well. ~Jim Cobb We will never forget...
Thank you Assemblyman Joe DeStefano for continuing to help me raise awareness for Dystonia
I realized that I have a lot more 'followers' and customers that possibly don't know why I share information about Dystonia & why I will share information on Dystonia Awareness from now until the end of September so ... here's my story ... I was diagnosed the first week of November 2009 with Cervical Dystonia & Essential Tremors (2 out of 3 of the most common movement disorders along with Parkinsons, which thankfully, I do not have). Since then I have been thru numerous cat ...scans, MRI's (brain, cervical, thoracic & lumbar spine) on a regular basis. I am scheduled for 2 MRI's and 2 MRA's of the brain on Saturday 9/12. I have also gotten an EEG, numerous EMG's (I have another scheduled for 9/29) and a few more tests of my ear canals & central nervous system on 10/1. I began in January of 2010 receiving EMG guided botox injections in the active muscles in neck (more on this another day). These injections, along with the page long of medications I am on, help to keep the Dystonia in some sort of control. The Dystonia has done a number on my back, at times, causing worse pain than the Dystonia itself. I have gone thru every imaginable form of pain management to no avail. So ... IIWII (It Is What It Is) ~ my mantra. I run my business to the best of my ability and am grateful, not only for my extremely understanding customers, but for being able to make my own hours. Thank you ALL!!! I was diagnosed in 2016 with both Neuropathy (no, I do not have diabetes) and also Spasmodic Dysphonia (Dystonia of the vocal chords). Since then the Dystonia and tremors have progressed significantly. I now have Generalized Dystonia ~ Dystonia throughout the body. THERE IS NO CURE!!! If you have read this far ~ wow, thank you!! I am putting this out there to let you all know how passionate I am about the Dystonia Awareness cause. At a later date I will let you know what I've done to help raise awareness. I hope you will continue to join me as I share information about Dystonia and how it affects me and others I share a lot more information on my personal page, so if you would be interested in learning more, please feel free to send me a friend request See more
Please join me in thanking all local first responders and all they do for our communities
We were so thrilled when asked again this year to do the printing for the annual Ed Sawicki Memorial Fishing Trip. Thank you for once again entrusting Balsam Printing for such a special project.
I don't normally post this stuff on my business page, but I figured why not, right? For obvious reasons, The Dystonia Zoo Walk is virtual this year! When you click on the link below..., click on the how to participate and select your shirts and it will also ask on the donation page who should be credited with the gift and you can then enter my name if you wish. All t-shirt orders must be in by August 27th in order to arrive before the virtual walk. All donations are tax deductible and are being matched at 100% Thank you for supporting me See more
