Barneveld Fire Department

Today at 12:04pm Barneveld FD was notified by Oneida County 911 of a mutual aid request for a structure fire on Prospect St. in the Village of Remsen (Remsen Fire District). Upon the arrival of Remsen Car 4 (Cpt. Tyson) he reported smoke visible and confirmed a chimney fire at that location. Barneveld FD was assigned to assist with roof operations, and to check for any extension. The fire was contained to the chimney, resulting in no damage to the structure. Barneveld FD resp...onded under the command of Chief Kevin Kalk with Engine 1, Engine 2, Rescue 1, Squad 1 and 16 members. While on scene of the fire Remsen FD was notified of a personal injury motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Bardwell Mills Road and Dayton Road in the Town of Remsen, Barneveld Engine 1 cleared the scene of the fire and responded to the MVA to assist Remsen. For the past few years our members have picked a day during the holiday season and collected donations at the Barneveld Stewart’s for the Stewart’s Holiday Match program which donates to local charities. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we were unable to do that this year, so our members wanted to make a donation to this great cause. Accepting the check is Barneveld Store Manager Briana Carmen.

Last evening at 5:45pm Barneveld FD along with our automatic mutual aid Holland Patent FD and Stittville FD (Fast Team) were alerted to a structure fire in the Mapledale Acres mobile home park. Barneveld Car 2(Assistant Chief Healey) arrived quickly and confirmed a small chimney fire at that location and had our mutual aid companies standby at their stations. Barneveld FD responded with Engine 1, Tanker 7 and 12 members under the command of Assistant Chief Brian Healey. The f...ire was kept contained to the chimney and there was no damage to the structure. This morning at 12:45am Barneveld FD was notified of a mutual aid request for a reported structure fire on Main St in the Village of Remsen (Remsen Fire District). First arriving officers confirmed the fire was just burnt food on the stove and all Barneveld apparatus remained in quarters.

Ok folks we have confirmed the route with the North Pole and this is going to be the route that Santa Clause will be taking through our district. Please remember that we will NOT be stopping for any photos with Santa. Sorry we haven’t posted any approximate times as this is Santa’s first visit in a few years and we’re not sure how long it will take. The route posted is the route we will be taking. We just got word from the North Pole that Santa will be coming to town this Saturday 12/19 for a socially distant visit. Santa will be traveling around our district starting at noon. We will not be stopping or passing out candy canes like in the past. Please wave from a safe distance so everyone can enjoy a healthy and happy holiday. We will post the route and approximate times on Friday!

The officers and members of the Barneveld FD want to offer our condolences to the Sanford family and the Boonville FD and Ambulance on the passing of Tom Sanford. Tom in past years covered shifts as a medic at Prospect Ambulance, and treated many residents of this community over the years. Please keep the Sanford family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

This morning at 8:44am Barneveld FD was notified of a mutual aid request by Oneida County 911 for a reported structure fire on Beaver Meadow Road in the Town of Remsen (Remsen Fire District). The first arriving officers reported smoke visible and advised of a working fire. The crew of Remsen Engine 3 stretched a line and was able to contain the fire to the room of origin. The crew of Barneveld Engine 1 was assigned to assist with clearing the smoke from the residence. Barneveld FD under the command of Chief Kevin Kalk responded with Engine 1, Rescue 1, Tanker 7, Tanker 8 and 16members. Agencies operating at the scene were Remsen FD, Barneveld FD, National Grid and STaR Ambulance. Great work by all responders.
