Recently, a Glens Falls man agreed to a settlement of $300,000 for injuries sustained in an accident. This matter was settled before trial and was litigated by our Attorney, Greg Teresi. The New York State Statutory Short Form Power of Attorney form has changed. Earlier this year, the New York State legislature and Governor enacted new legislation changing the law concerning Powers of Attorney and the statutory short form Power of Attorney. There were significant changes to the law, as well as in the form. The new laws were effective June 13, 2021. The new forms are now available. While previously executed Powers of Attorney remain effective, it is important to review your Power of Attorney, as well as other estate planning documents with your attorney on a regular basis.

This year, on July 4th, we celebrate America’s 245th birthday. As life goes, our country has had it’s ups and downs. But this weekend we can all come together and celebrate as one, the accomplishment of 245 years of Independence. Whether you will celebrate by grilling, gathering with friends and loved ones, or staying home and enjoying some peace and quiet, our family at BPSR wants to wish you a happy and safe Independence Day weekend. Hard work pays off! Congratulations to Tori Craft, who was sworn into the NYS Bar yesterday as an attorney! We are proud to have her as a member of the BPSR family and look forward to her future accomplishments!

Meet our attorney, John Wright. John joined the BPSR family over thirteen years ago when he graduated law school, making this his first and only job since then. His main areas of practice are Personal Injury, General Litigation, Insurance Defense, Landlord/Tenant, Criminal Defense, Real Property Law, and Zoning and Land Use Planning. John has three children who take up most of his free time. He coaches as many of their sports teams as possible, and, like a lot of parents, spe...nds most of his evenings ushering them to and from various activities. In his free time, John enjoys skiing with his 9-year-old (who is rumored to be a better skier than him), and baking to pass the time during the winter months with his 8-year-old. Currently, John’s favorite book is Dream Golf, about the construction of Bandon Dunes, a golf resort in Oregon. As with all of his colleagues here at BPSR, John feels fortunate that he is able to assist his clients in solving problems that they think are insurmountable. He believes that helping a client through a difficult time is what makes practicing law worthwhile.
