Dear Bayberry Family Members, We are aggressively working on our plan to reopen Bayberry to limited family visitation next week. We are completing our detailed plan for submission to the NY State Department pursuant to the many criteria and protocols outlined in the department’s memo issued last Friday. ... In short, we are expecting to hold outdoor visits for half-hour durations on weekday afternoons and Tuesday and Thursday evenings. As per the state’s directive, we can accommodate a maximum of four families at any given time, with no more than two visitors from each family. We will be establishing four distinct visiting stations on the front lawn, properly socially distanced and each shaded with a large sun umbrella. A resident and his/her visitor(s) will be seated opposite each other six feet apart. A welcoming table will be set up at the entrance of the front lawn to screen all visitors, take their temperatures and provide required face masks and hand sanitizer. We are employing the best technology available to implement this process in as seamless and efficient a manner as possible. To that end, we will be following up this memo with instructions to how to make an on-line reservation for an available time slot at least 24 hours in advance. There will also be a link to a screening form which each prospective visitor must complete prior to his/her visit. As per the state’s directive, this information must by logged and housed in a computerized file. We believe that with everyone’s patience and cooperation, we can accommodate most visitation requests, but no more than two visits per week for any one resident. Given all the government requirements we are required to fulfill in order to proceed, we have been working diligently to comply with the myriad directives as quickly as possible. We will be following up with additional details and instructions by the end of the week. Candidly, for a facility that has never had any restrictions on visitation in our history, this is not the place we were hoping to be four months into the pandemic. But it is a start.
