Picnics without ants. BCQ hosted its annual picnic indoors at its new location on 803 West Avenue site in July. Many thanks to the CORE Center for allowing us to use its facilities for the picnic.
Drum Roll . . .On Sunday, June 2nd, at the Genesee Valley Quilt Fest, Mike Gold drew the winning raffle ticket for the quilt he made and donated to BCQ. Many thanks to Mike for his many years volunteering as a teacher at BCQ and sharing his quilting skills and talent with both BCQ and GVQC! Thanks to all who bought a raffle ticket. Your purchase helps support BCQ which depends upon the donations of fabric, quilting supplies as well as volunteers' time. And thanks to BCQ volunteers and students who come weekly and share their interest and enthusiasm on quilting. You are the heart and soul of the organization.
The Genesee Valley Quilt Fest ends today. Thank you all who bought a raffle ticket to support BCQ, a non-profit, all volunteer organization. BCQ's purpose is to use quilting as a tool to increase opportunities for interaction and socialization between participants of different backgrounds; to help those who want to learn or improve a skill; to foster a sense of accomplishment; to provide enrichment activities. BCQ teacher volunteers Terri and Lynn were busy selling raffle tickets to quilt show attendees on Friday. The raffle drawing is this afternoon, June 2nd. May the lucky ticket holder win.
Genesee Valley Quilt fest opens tomorrow morning at 9:00! Please stop by the BCQ booth and see Mike Gold's raffle quilt in person. Raffle tickets to benefit BCQ are only $1 each. Thanks to everyone who has already bought one or more raffle tickets.
We moved to our new location, 803 West Avenue here in Rochester, New York, on April 13, 2019! It is inspiring to see that less than five weeks later, we're back in business - sewing machines humming, fabric organized, quilting tools like rulers, rotary cutters, scissors, marking pens, ironing boards, display walls and even cutting mats and cutting table ready for students to continue working on their projects. Many thanks to Gladys who has worked tirelessly to move, unpack, and organize the space. She could not have done this alone - thanks to the many volunteers - both students, teachers, and friends.
Just a few days after we moved into the new site, Connie, Doris, Jackie and Gladys were busy unloading boxes, organizing fabric, setting up the sewing machines, and turning the new site into our new "home." Even the longarm is set up and soon will be available for quilting!
BCQ moved to our new location! We are now located at 803 West Avenue. We are now back in business and looking forward to our regular quilters returning and introducing new community members to BCQ.
