Spring 2021 / Remote TOW/WNYC paid Internships. The Department of Television, Radio & Emerging Media has a unique internship program in partnership with WNYC/New York Public Radio. Because of a generous endowment through the Tow Family Foundation, Brooklyn College Journalism and Media Studies majors have the opportunity to apply for a paid internship to one of three programming units of New York Public Radio: Radio Rookies, Gothamist, and the WNYC Newsroom. Students who have... not yet fulfilled their JAMS internship requirement may also enroll in TVRA4177, which will count toward their degree. Students who have already taken TVRA4177 and performed an internship for that course are still eligible for this internship and will not have to retake TVRA4177 or be enrolled in it during their semester at WNYC. The requirements for each internship's application can be found here. http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu//te/tow-wnyc-internships.php) Please note that there are different materials requested for each of the three internships so carefully review the ones that pertain to the specific internship (Radio Rookies, Gothamist, WNYC Newsroom) to which you want to apply. Spring internships require availability two full days of the week (Monday through Friday). You must submit your availability along with your application. Due to the unprecedented times and uncertainty about COVID-19, the internships will be done remotely. Interested students need to have unlimited access to a working Mac or Windows computer, cellphone, headphones, and reliable Internet connection. Complete application materials should be sent to the Tow/WNYC Internship Coordinator: Professor Sandra Lopez-Monsalve at [email protected]. The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, November 9th at 11:59p.m. Questions regarding the internships, eligibility and the application materials should also be referred to Professor Lopez-Monsalve.

Last week, our Journalism and Media Studies (JAMS) major students had an amazing opportunity to go on an inclusive tour of Spectrum News NY1. They had a sneak peek into their futures. The students were able to practice as news anchors. They also experienced how a live news show is produced by being shown the internal production processes that occurs behind the scene. Special thanks to: - Spectrum News NY1 - Brooklyn College alumni Michael Wilkinson and Dexter David... - NY1 Senior News-gathering Manager, Shannon Troetel See more
