Introducing Jamie Bemis, Account Manager, Bright Power, who will join us 12/6 as moderator at Business Design Technology Conference 2018. Jamie Bemis is an Account Manager at Bright Power, an energy efficiency and renewable energy consulting firm. In her current role, Jamie works with affordable housing developers across New York City to incorporate energy efficiency measures and renewable energy installations into existing buildings and new multifamily housing developments. ...Before joining Bright Power, Jamie worked at New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, where she worked with developers to develop new affordable housing across the city. Jamie is a graduate of MIT’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning, where her master’s thesis addressed how energy efficiency improvements in existing multifamily buildings in low income communities can contribute to improved quality of life, good jobs, and reduced environmental impacts. Introducing Vishant Kothari, Teaching Assistant for the Sustainable Cities Program, Columbia University in the City of New York, who will join us 12/6 as panelist for Business Design Technology Conference 2018. Vishant's professional focus includes Sustainability and Climate Change Adaptation Strategy with a focus on urban sustainability policy, energy and technology. Most recently he worked on the sustainable city plan refresh for Los Angeles. He's passionate about developin...g unlikely partnerships and working with institutions to create scalable & sustainable solutions. He's an alum of AIESEC, a global non profit for youth leadership. Currently he's a graduate student at Columbia University's Sustainability Management program graduating next week, teaching assistant for the Sustainable Cities program at Columbia University, President of a Net Impact chapter at Columbia University and the New York City lead as an Advanced Energy Group Fellow. Introducing Asif Khan, Senior Director, Partnerships, & Programs, Games For Change, who will join us 12/6 as panelist at Business Design Technology Conference 2028. Asif manages the organization’s business development, and fundraising efforts, as well as external partnerships. He also helps manage the XR for Change initiative which focuses on immersive realities as a medium for positive social change. Asif has previously held partnerships and programmatic roles at Room to Rea...d, Action Against Hunger, United Nations Foundation and Earth Day Network. Prior to starting his non-profit career he worked in Investor Relations at The Jordan Company and Alliance Bernstein. He has a Bachelor’s in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Masters in International Relations from the University of Warwick in the UK. Asif has lived and worked in Pakistan, England, Spain, Turkey & Argentina. He was chosen as one of the top 50 XR and Emerging Tech professionals as part of the Schusterman Foundation’s REALITY program. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at St. John’s University. Maya Georgieva is a futurist, author, speaker and digital strategist with more than 15 years of experience in global education. Maya is the Director of Digital Learning at The New School, where she leads innovation in digital learning and VR, AR, and Mixed Reality initiatives. Maya oversees the XReality Center, a research ...center to advance the study and design of immersive technologies. Maya is also the co-founder at www.DigitalBodies.net, a consulting group focusing on the impact of immersive and cognitive computing on education and society. Maya’s work has been featured at EDUCAUSE Review, SXSWedu, Online Learning Consortium, EdSurge, EdTech Magazine and Edutopia among others. Recently, she spoke at SXSWedu, the European Commission and at the MIT Media Lab Connected Learning Summit on Immersive Learning and Storytelling.
