As the first winter storm of the season draws near, we would like to ask for your help. If you have a fire hydrant on or in front of your property please shovel... a 3 foot path around the hydrant as well as a path to the street. In the case of a fire seconds truly matter. A clear hydrant saves time that can be the difference between life and death. #iaff #nyspffa #dcpffa

11/02/20- Just after 1pm today, the City of Beacon Fire Department was dispatched for a porch fire on Dinan St. Car 1 arrived on scene and confirmed a fire in an enclosed front porch. Firefighters quickly stretched a hose line and extinguished the fire, which had extended into the walls and floors of the porch. Firefighters then overhauled the front porch while checking for any further extension and also ventilated the house to remove smoke. Beacon PBA and Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps also assisted on scene. This is the second fire in under a week for the City of Beacon FD, following a Second Alarm basement fire on Main St on 10/28.

09/20/20 At 23:24, Beacon PBA recieved a call for a missing and possibly injured hiker in the area of Long Dock Park. BPD searched the area and located the patient at Dennings Point, down a steep embankment, laying in the river. Officers on scene were able to drag the patient out of the water onto the shoreline, but due to the patient's condition and treacherous terrain, were unable to safely ascend back up the embankment. BFD was requested to the scene to assist. BPD's offro...ad utility vehicle was utilized to transport personnel and rescue equipment that would be needed for extraction. Due to the fact that all BFD units would be operating for an extended period of time, a 10-35 was called by command. The 4 Career Firefighters on scene, set up a low angle rope rescue system to safely descend the embankment. The patient was packaged in a stokes basket and secured onto the rope system for removal. Once safely removed, patient care was turned over to Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps EMTs on scene. Using the UTV, the patient was transported off the trail and out of the woods to the awaiting ambulance. All BFD units were clear at 01:33. This incident serves as a perfect example of great team work by all agencies involved to once again avert a possible tragic outcome.

!! PLEASE REPOST !! Due to the incompetence of Eastchester Fire District’s Board of Fire Commissioners: Paul Carlo, Brian Keating, Stuart Rabin, Thomas Roche & ...Dennis Winter; Station #5 - North End Firehouse is CLOSED! This is a HUGE risk to your safety, as it will increase response times to the North End of Eastchester when every second counts.
