Look to the light. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, believe in you, love you, and remind you that YOU ARE POWERFUL! Breanna joined Beam way back in 2017 as an apprentice, later teaching children STEM project-making, and now designs/leads high school programming full-time. She’s tough, smart, and matter of fact when she says, No! You can do it. By donating using the link in bio, YOU’re helping grow our community that is powerful, diverse, and believes we c...an only do this TOGETHER. SHOUT OUT to @FannieLouHS, one of our first partners in NYC. Every year we collaborate with them to create learning opportunities that challenge conventions in public education. This weekend FL staff travel across the Bronx to deliver project-making supplies to students and families for Learn Anything 2.0 - a program that puts youth interest/passion 1st. #fannielouhamer #freedom #libertarian #blm #publiceducation #fablab #makerspace #vote #learning #bronx #nyc #teachersofinstagram

BEAM Truck is the bright idea of staff members who dreamed of driving around the city to meet all the youth involved in our digital summer programming. An incredible way to end the summer, we celebrated with Beam community in parts of the city we never knew existed. At every stop youth shared the projects the made, and made a flag to add to the truck. It was a powerful reminder that BEAM is everywhere. Help us welcome more people into the community YOU love. BEHOLD! BEACON is a public artwork conceptualized by artist Shervone Neckles that honors the life and genius of Lewis Latimer. Currently being fabricated in our shop by a team of Project Fellows, we’re excited to unveil it in 2021. This project has been funded by the National Endowment for the Arts & NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs.

This summer we reached over 500 young people with a hybrid model of making and learning. 96% made or built something they were proud of in our remote program! Help us expand this work to reach more NYC young people! Beam partners with schools and community-based organizations in low income neighborhoods whose budgets have been slashed. YOU can make the difference! Thank you! #donate #linkinbio #nonprofit #youth #education #making #learning #nyc #covidresponse
