A custom dressing room befitting a theater star of this caliber, that's all I'll say in mixed company. However, I cannot help but show off my creation. Broadway dressing rooms are SUPER tiny and bleak, such a challenge to incorporate the elements required for a star to get made up, dressed and rested between performances, let alone entertain the reporters and visitors, or Ladies who Lunch. Plush velour stretches out the finite yardage that is the hand-embroidered piece I was... given to work with. These two fabrics together transform day bed into a makeshift couch. Those back pillows you see have appliques created from the vintage hand embroidery. They are applied (applique) to the down velour back pillows, smoke and mirrors yes, but even so, Glamoure, daaaling Glamoure! Symmetry is key here, a tiny space & loud fabric; careful planning was needed to tie the room together with color and textures. Trying to stay on top of the latest trend has never been a priority to me. Often I’ve discovered that while doing my own thing, I’ve actually been ahead of curve. After all, everyone has their eye on NYers, and I’ve been in NYC longer that’s the millennials have been alive. I’ve always had a penchant for American products. Excellent products from the USA unfortunately are dwindling . Those inexpensive, but build with American pride pieces from 1950 are now 70 years old! This custom seat needed to be securely installed in a home with 2 rambunctious boys.
