It is with heavy hearts that the officers and members of Seneca Fire - Cattaraugus Territory announce the passing of life member Steven P. Schindler. Steve, 44 ...years old, succumbed to complications from COVID-19. A member of CIRVFD / Seneca Fire since September 8th, 1997, Steve joined initially as a Firefighter advancing to Firefighter/EMT and then on to Chief of Department. During his 23 years with CIRVFD / Seneca Fire Steve held the ranks of Lieutenant, Truck captain, Public relations Chairman, Board of Director, 2nd Asst. Chief, 1st Asst. Chief, Chief of Department, for over 9 years. Steve received the top 10 most active responder award in both Fire and EMS over a multitude of years. Steve also received The prestigious William Warrior award Fire Chief of the year. Steve was passionate about fire and emergency medical services, his knowledge and experience was vary instrumental in the fire departments initial purchase of Rosenbauer fire trucks in 2017. Seneca Fire is mourning the loss of another one of our members, Barbara Bobbie Huff. Bobbie joined our department in the early years of our founding and thro...ughout her service she served as a firefighter, emergency medical technician, and achieved the rank of emergency medical services (EMS) captain before entering exempt status. Barbara was later reinstated into the Department in 2013 and served until her passing. Our deepest condolences are with her family, friends, and to all whom known her.
