Yesterday evening C-259, ER-254, R-250, and U-251 assisted Glenville PD with multiple vehicles off the road due to hazardous road conditions. This weeks drills we are focusing on advanced ladder skills, taking patients out a 2nd story window, bringing them down a ladder, and utilizing scoop stretchers.
Rest In Peace Alex! Our thoughts and prayers are with the Alplaus FD family as well as the Coppola family.
Due to the ongoing pandemic we perform drills on 4 nights of the week to limit members exposure to one another. With this, it has helped our response times to the residents of District 5. Today we responded to a motor vehicle accident, a possible structure fire and 2 medical calls. This week, members have learned ladder skills and were required to show competency and proficiency in how to carry, set up, and take down ladders. They also had to perform given tasks on the ladder and properly demonstrate the motions. At the end of each evening, crews assure the apparatus is clean and the equipment is ready in the event of a call to service.
