Good news for bikers and pedestrians around the state!

Cheers to our friends at Saratoga Shredders for putting this holiday giveback together! We're grateful to be one of the beneficiaries for dollar donations, alongside awesome community organizations like Franklin Community Center, Inc., Black Girls Do Bike, and Saratoga Regional YMCA.

We are so grateful to our community for making this year a big one for biking and for Bikeatoga! This was a challenging year for many of us, navigating the pandemic and a new normal. Thank you for making the most of Bikeatoga with your donations, volunteering, visits, bike adoptions, partnerships and more. Well wishes to you and yours as we welcome in 2021. . . . Slide 1: Thanks to our Saratoga community for making 2020 a bike filled year. In our workshop there were 411 bike...s donated, 375 total bike adoptions including 130 kids who adopted a bicycle, 1127 volunteer hours logged, 425 workshop check-in’s including maintenance adoptions and the holiday kids bike giveaway. . Slide 2: we are hurting and grateful for many incredible community partnerships. To name just a few With Palace Café, impressions and dark horse in Saratoga, and bicycle benefits, we cohosted fun family friendly community bike ride called slow rolls. In May we collaborated with Caffe Lena for our first spokes and folks virtual film festival, featuring awesome local films and musicians. New partnerships blossomed with the Saratoga Shredders. Skidmore environmental studies class tackled projects on educational brochures and surveys. . Slide 3: In addition We submitted comments to the cities unified development ordinance, including the first draft in February and the second draft in December. A team of Bikeatoga folks did the hard work of reimagining membership and Bikeatoga and drafting respective new bylaws. Our Bikeatoga team submitted new grants to fund our workshop and operations. And Brad, our treasurer, lead the charge design safe COVID-19 protocols. Thank you to Brad and to our volunteers and visitors for being so patient, respectful, diligent, and safe. . At our Holiday Kids Bike Giveaway last Saturday we checked in many folks safely in our parking lot, and throughout the morning 70 bikes were picked up by families! We are so grateful to the community for bringing their gently used bikes to the shop, to local nonprofits who spread the word about the event, and to our volunteers who did maintenance and staffed the giveaway. Even though we were all wearing masks, there were smiles all around!

In September 2019 Bikeatoga hosted our first Ciclismo Bike Travel Film Festival here in Saratoga. The set of 2020 films is available at this online event from Ciclismo headquarters. Tune in for a taste of bike adventure and fun!

We’re promoting a free webinar from bike safety education organization, Cycling Savvy. A few folks from our Bikeatoga group have participated in their trainings around the country, and we welcome the opportunity to discuss top notch practices for safe cycling.
