Bishop Timon is now the only Private High School in New York State offering the Woz ED Drone Program. Steve Wozniak, one of the Co-Founders of Apple Products, has now turned his creativity towards Education creating Woz Ed. This model incorporates the engineering process in the classroom thus accelerating the path to employment for students who choose drones as a career. Woz ED has developed personalized learning programs so that learners can enroll, learn, master, get out i...nto the workplace faster, and start a career in high tech. The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, projected more than 100,000 new jobs in unmanned aircraft by 2025. That is just 4 short years, our incoming Freshmen will have these skills to add to their college and job applications. In the Qualified for Flight program, offered here at Timon, students will gain valuable experience in piloting small aerial vehicles. At the end of the course, students will gain hands-on experience piloting and spotting for drone missions. The next level offered will be Certified for Flight. During this module students will be exposed to a variety of tasks and knowledge building activities that will grow their confidence and prepare them to pass the Part 107 Drone Pilot License exam. By the end of this course students will be versed in how to build and repair a drone, read Aeronautical Charts, and conduct flight plans for various situations. This certification will make the students employable as they leave high school. The Drone Unit is just the beginning as we explore more STEM activities such as Artificial Intelligence, CODING, and Cyber security. Our school is a college preparatory institution, as well as focusing on career readiness, especially in the fields of science and engineering. This is a very exciting time to be a student here at Bishop Timon St. Jude High School. said Principal, Dr. James P. Newton. Special thank you to our generous alumni who helped bring this program to Timon. Woz Ed + Bishop Timon St. Jude High School = Pathways to Careers! WOZ ED, K-12

Bishop Timon has named Nick Galenti as its next Head Baseball Coach. Nick has been involved in the sport of baseball for over twenty years. Galenti graduated in 2011 from St. Mary’s High School, where he was a two time All-Catholic middle infielder. Upon graduating from SMHS, he continued his career at Erie Community College where he batted .327 and lead the team in fielding percentage. Nick earned a scholarship to Central Methodist University and led the conference in do...uble plays. His coaching experience is impressive. Nick spent time coaching under Mike Wagner at St. Mary’s. He has coached for the US Baseball Academy, the Academy Stars Baseball Team, the Tidewater Summer Collegiate League, the WNY Prospects, and most recently served as the recruiting coordinator and third base coach for Erie Community College under Joe Bauth. During the interview process, which was facilitated by Timon administrators, faculty, alumni, and former coaches, Nick’s enthusiasm shined through. Athletic Director Joe Licata stated, It was apparent from the beginning that Nick was the perfect fit to lead our baseball program. He loves the game, and is excited to teach. I know our kids are going to respond well to Nick’s passion and energy. First and foremost I’d like to thank Joe Licata, the interview committee, and the Bishop Timon community for welcoming me to their family. I’m extremely excited to get the ball rolling and to meet the guys, as well as the faculty and staff. I look forward to the daily challenge and opportunity of bringing Timon Baseball back to the top of the Monsignor Martin. Go Tigers! Galenti said. Galenti will be introduced to the team in the coming weeks to prepare for offseason workouts. If you would like to wish Coach Galenti luck, his email is [email protected].

Dr. Bernard J. (BJay) Ryan `98 to succeed Michael J. Burns `89 who is posthumously named Chairman Emeritus BUFFALO, NY Bishop Timon St. Jude High School today announced that Dr. Bernard J. (BJay) Ryan `98 has been elected as Chair of the Board of Trustees. Ryan succeeds Michael J. Burns `89 who recently was posthumously named by the Trustees as Chairman Emeritus. Mr. Burns was Chairman of the Board of Trustees from 2017 to 2020 until his sudden passing in November 2020. ...This is a very difficult time for the Bishop Timon - St. Jude family and obviously Mike’s family as we continue grieving such a tremendous loss, Ryan said. It was Mike’s hard work and determination that has created the foundation for our long-term success. I am humbled and excited to continue moving the school forward working with the Trustees and school administration as we approach our 75th anniversary in 2021, including our plans for remembering Mike and his legacy and commitment to Bishop Timon St. Jude High School. During Burns’ tenure the school adopted its first strategic plan and implemented a number of cost controls to stabilize its finances. Burns also revamped the leadership team and with the Board’s approval hired Dr. Jim Newton as the school’s new principal in June 2018 and Ron Bertovich as director of administration and Joe Licata as Athletic Director and Varsity Football Coach in 2017. Dr. Ryan received his Physical Therapy degree from D'Youville College in 2003 and his Doctoral degree from D'Youville in 2012. He is an adjunct clinical instructor in the University of Buffalo Orthopedics program. Dr Ryan has a background in strength and conditioning and is a clinical instructor for Daemen College, D'Youville College and University of Buffalo. Dr. Ryan practices at Ascend Therapy Group on Abbott Road in South Buffalo. See more

THANK YOU, Jeff Ralabate Timon would like to issue our sincerest thank you to Baseball Coach, Jeff Ralabate. Jeff, a 2004 graduate of Timon, has lead the Tigers for 5 seasons. He is stepping down for family reasons. I have four children and my youngest is special needs, so he needs extra care, Ralabate said. As much as I love coaching, I’m going to be needed at home. It’s time to give my wife (Pilar) a break from being a superhero.... Athletic Director, Joe Licata, said about Ralabate, It is evident how much he cares about his players, and this school. Jeff has always been the purest example of high character and doing things the right way, the Timon way. Any Timon student that played for Jeff came out of his program a better young man. I cannot express how thankful I am for Jeff’s contributions to the Timon family. He will be sincerely missed. Former All-Catholic Tiger and current Mercyhurst Pitcher, Sean Hayes ’19, played for Ralabate for 4 seasons. He has fond memories of playing for Timon, and attributes a lot of that to Coach Ralabate. He was a relentless hard worker and took great pride in coaching for his alma mater. Not only did he strive for young athletes to be their absolute best, he ensured that every member of the team was enjoying their time with Timon Baseball. I loved playing for Timon, and a lot of that had to do with Coach Ralabate. Please join us in saying THANK YOU to Jeff Ralabate ’04 for his contributions to the Timon Tiger baseball program! If you would like to send Coach Ralabate a personalized message, his email is [email protected]
