Since the beginning of our existence in the late 1970’s, the Black River Ambulance Squad has held Christmas Tree Sales as an annual fundraiser. Our members use to go out and cut down the trees themselves. Today we order then locally from Martins in Philadelphia NY. We will take pre-orders on all greenery, please call 315-281-6634 to preorder, or there will be some greenery available onsite as well. Village of Black River Trick or treating is 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on October 31, 2020. Curfew is strictly enforced. 5 of our members attended a 3 day virtual conference ABC360 put on by the lawyers Page, Wolfberg, and Wirth LLC. This conference was held the last 3 days from 8am to 5pm each day. This is a Privacy, Compliancy, Documentation, and Billing annual update conference. Keep in mind each of our members who attended our 100% completely all volunteer. Members who attended were President Jonathan Gaines, Director of Operations Alan Gaines, Asst. Director of Operations Kathleen Gaines, Secretary Susan Branagan, and Coder Patti Denner. Thank you to these members for their continued dedication.

It’s is the battle of the seasons at the Black River Ambulance Squad. One member is crazy about Christmas! Leadership decided she could decorate if she included the halloween theme. With the tree comes the reminder, soon we will be posting info about preordering for our Christmas tree and wreathe/greenery fundraiser. Stay tuned! Missing/Endangered Teens Attempt to Locate The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate Bree L. Shultz, 14, of Cape Vincent, and Jacob T. Hou...se, 17, of Natural Bridge. Shultz and House were last seen early this morning in Natural Bridge operating a 2000 Honda Recon 250 ATV, color olive green, NY registration 93JA56. Neither were dressed for weather conditions and their whereabouts are currently unknown. Their disappearance appears intentional and they may be in the Natural Bridge, Harrisville or Carthage area. JCSO ATV and road patrols have been actively searching the area with the assistance of the New York State Police, NYS Forest Rangers, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Police, Natural Bridge Fire Department, Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, and Carthage Police. Black River Ambulance voted in 5 new members tonight. One is already a New York State EMT-Basic, and two are in EMT-Basic class. Congratulations to Justin, Nick, Samantha, Ruby, and Michele. Welcome aboard.

Black River Ambulance voted in four new members last week at our meeting Natalie, Haley, Megan, and Zach. One is a NYS certified EMT, and at least 2 people plan to take the next EMT class. We take the training and orientation of our members seriously. Tonight President And Certified Compliancy and Privacy Officer Jonathan Gaines instructed the new members on HIPAA. Thank you to those members who attended.

Our Assistant Director of Operations Kathleen Gaines set up a window visit with Exempt member Marilyn May who is now in Samaritan Keep Home. Marilyn is known as Mom to many, and we all can’t wait until we get to spend time with her again when the visiting restrictions are lifted from the Keep Home. Glad to see she is still doing well, and seems to be enjoying herself.

One of our village residents donated two pet oxygen kits for our ambulances. This comes after a fire recently where we used a pet mask from Fort Drum Fire to attempt to save a dog who was trapped inside. We appreciate this donation, and although we hope we won’t need to use it, now we are prepared if we have to.

Shoutout to Black River Ambulance Squad tonight. They offered to wash 321 while they were doing the ambulances. Of course we said yes. While they were at it Madelyn became our newest officer Thank you!
