CIRCLE LINE is a tour company in New York City whose boats take visitors around Manhattan Island. But the Wonder City, as New York has been called (see photo), ...is getting friendlier by the minute to bicycles. On a visit this past weekend we took another circle line, on two wheelers. It is a green ribbon -- a line on the map, denoting bike-path-plus-green-grass on the actual ground -- that enables circumnavigation of Manhattan Island by bike or trike. If you've been to the Met, but not Met Cloisters; if Greenwich Village is old hat, but you've not been to Inwood ('for fairly comfortable people,' that hood); if you've read The Little Red Lighthouse but not met her; if you have heard PEnnsylvania 6-5000 but not dialed WAshington Heights 7-7500, then this circle is for you. From the comfort of your laptop, no less, join us trekking by Trek, as we trace our Sept. 29, 2018 circle, or trapezoid, or whatever Manhattan is. We begin by picking up our bicycles at Blazing Saddles, the rental shop at the foot of Fulton St., in Lower Manhattan. We head around the Battery, charge up the Hudson to the Heights, and coast back. In said Inwood we munch a macoun (an apple for the Big Apple, pictured). A bit down we drop in at Dan's, to look at the cans (see photo). We pause in parks, take breaks under bridges. Though we rode on the weekend you can catch up with us anytime -- please do -- by clicking on the first photo (Michel with the bikes). Join us by using the arrow key or your cursor to toggle with us around the great and glorious Manhattan island. Finally, please accept our apologies for excess rhyme and alliteration in these notes, we cannot help ourselves.

I took this tour by myself. When I was at peir 84 to take ferry , I found the rent place so I booked it Because I loved it when I did it in San Francisco The... guy Prince and girl hannag was so friendly and helped me so well. Thank you again guys. The black line I drew on the map is the route I took. Riding around the Central park was really tough for up and downs but a lot to see. I feel like I conquering the city when I do bike tour and after that the city is my town. That's why I love it. See more

HAPPY J-DAY!!! #J1 participants everywhere celebrated J-DAY throughout the week and especially today. The group with us in New York City participated in the Eat..., Play, Give activities on Governors Island, which included fun bike rides, thanks to Blazing Saddles New York, where each participant got to rent a bike and explore the island. Then we got an in-depth look into the Billion Oyster Project --a citizen science project coordinated by the New York Harbor School with the goal of restoring one billion live oysters to New York Harbor by 2030--to become more environmentally conscious. Then of course came the food! #CelebrateJDay #EatPlayGive #J1Visa #ExchangesImpact #globalfamily #culturalexchange #meetup #connect #international #students #workandtravel
