Blue Bridges Initiative 31.10.2020

We had such a wonderful time being a part of the Maryvale Middle Grinch Ball on Friday! My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that? -Bob Hope

Yesterday was our 4th annual Blue Mittens Project event and it was an all around WONDERFUL day! We took 10 families including 21 children on a Christmas shopping spree at Target followed by lunch at Salsarita's. Thank you so much to all who helped make this happen. This is what the holiday season is all about.

It was wonderful being a part of a huge toy donation yesterday (2,000 toys worth over $17,000!) by the AMAZING people at Buffalo Toy Sale! The toys were donated to the George K Arthur Community Cent and will be dispersed appropriately. We couldn't be more thrilled to know how many kids will be impacted and have the chance to experience a little bit merrier of a Christmas this year!!!

We are one step closer to becoming an official non-profit organization! This is a proud moment for us! Thank you to Michael A. de Freitas for helping us through the process and thank you to every single person who has supported our journey thus far. We are hoping this advancement forward as an organization only enhances our ability to make an even larger impact on the lives of the wonderful children and people in our community!

Fun times at the Cheektowaga Central Middle School Winter Pep Rally on Friday! The kids cheered on as the teachers of the school played against the Cheektowaga Police officers in a friendly basketball game! One of our goals with Blue Bridges was to build a relationship locally with the schools and as time passes and more events take place, a stronger bridge seems to be forming. We think the children are seeing and feeling it, and hopefully it’s impacting them. It’s exciting and we can’t wait for more events!

We had a great time recently in a bowling event we had with Maryvale Middle School! It was a wonderful turnout and we had a really fun day. This particular event was in conjunction with the Positive Behavior Intervention & Support Initiative by Maryvale schools. It's an amazing program! Learn more about it here: https://www.maryvaleufsd.org/Page/7293 As Blue Bridges continues to grow and our relationship with schools and the community continues to grow, we can't wait to see what the future holds!
