Great article by this past summer's Maggid Shiur, Rabbi Shlomo Zuckier! "The gedolim of the Modern Orthodox community have embraced and championed women’s Talmud study."

"When a group of individuals share a common dream and work together to bring their ideals into reality, something beautiful is created. This is what happened with Bnot Sinai, an all-women’s summer beit midrash program in the Five Towns, created by college students and intended for Orthodox women college-aged and above."

Last week, Bnot Sinai came to an emotional close. Here are the words of our founder, Tamar Beer: "Tonight Bnot Sinai comes to a close, and I'm sad to say goodbye to such an incredible group of young women and such an impressive group of educators. When I started Bnot Sinai, I was just a 20 year old who had know idea how to run a program. Now I'm happy to say I'm one year older and wiser, and I'm impressed by the success of this program and honored to watch my hard work come ...into fruition as it lifted off the ground. Building a program of my very own has been one of the most meaningful journeys I am yet to embark on, but what makes it so are the people who share my dream, and turn it into the vibrant, stimulating, diverse, and passionate beit midrash that it is. A special thanks to the educators whose Torah we have deeply benefited from- Rabbi Shlomo Zuckier, Rabbi Dr. Ezra Frazer, Sarah Robinson, Lisa Septimus, and Jessie Fischbein. But also, a special thanks to the star talmidot, who are some of my best friends because they inspire my that the world of serious women's Talmud Torah has so much potential. I created this program for myself- for us. I created this program for our future daughters somewhere down the line. May we all continue to work on our ahavat and yirat HaShem in growth oriented environments like these!" See more

GET TO KNOW BNOT SINAI! Devora Chait, in her second year at Bnot Sinai, is a recent graduate of Queens College who will be learning in YU's Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies before applying to Math PhD programs. She attends Bnot Sinai this year whenever she can even though she got married right in the middle of the program! (Mazal Tov to Devora and Yosef Roth!) Devora, what lead you to Bnot Sinai? ... "Well, my best friend (Tamar Beer) is running it, and I helped. But now for the more idealistic reasons: During the year, I set aside time to learn b-chavruta but nothing compares to setting aside the time to focus on learning, and being under the guidance of teachers and being in an environment of women pursuing their own Torah education. Any opportunity I can get to learn in a beit midrash that values building one’s life around Halakha and Torah values is an opportunity I want to take. It is important for my avodat HaShem." Devora, what do you enjoy about Bnot Sinai? "I love the seder shiur style of learning. I find it motivating and challenging and it inspires real thought and creativity. I am impressed by the participants who are taking the time they could have spent hanging around at the end of the summer to instead, learn in Bnot Sinai. There is a wonderful mix of teachers with a large range of educational and professional backgrounds. I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to learn with them if I didn't go to Bnot Sinai."
