Music In Our Lives! ~~ From Kris Teeft, Board Member and former Organization Parent. #CarpoolKaroke My daughter Virginia is a former singer for the chorus. She and I love musicals and would road trip around town singing to songs from RENT, Dear Evan Hanson, and Wicked!! She misses singing with a choir but we love and enjoy listening and singing together!

Music In Our Lives! ~~From Jeff Renzoni, BNC Board President, and BMC singing member~~ My family is full of musicians, and beginning in March and continuing for many months, we lamented what we had lost because of the pandemic.high school musicals that were canceled, chorus and orchestra concerts that didn’t happen, and wonderful, planned BMC concerts that couldn’t take place. But then we began to find virtual performances on Facebook and Instagram. And we witnessed love... for a teacher in the form of an outdoor, socially-distanced surprise farewell concert in front of her house. In these and countless other ways, we were reminded that music is truly one of the very few things that bind us all together. One of those new discoveries were virtual summer concerts by an a cappella group called The Hyannis Sound. We tuned into their shows on Instagram nearly every night this summer at the dinner hour. On our many summer trips to Cape Cod over the years we had traveled up and down the Cape to see these young gentlemen perform. And as with so many other things we’d lost, we were sad that we wouldn’t be able to see them perform during our annual pilgrimage to the Cape, which we were able to make safely, despite the pandemic. Just a few weeks before our scheduled trip, the group announced that they were holding four live, socially-distanced concerts on a baseball diamond on the Cape. Max attendance would be 100 people. And one of them would be occurring the week we were there. We were first in line for tickets. On the second-to-last day of our relaxing and rejuvenating summer vacation, we got to enjoy a little bit of normal in the midst of all that isn’t normal this year. We got to see the Hyannis Sound live. The guys didn’t disappoint. The crowd of 100 sat in socially-distanced lawn chairs up and down the first and third baselines while the guys stood out on the Pitcher’s mound and sang to us for over an hour and a half. While baseball diamonds aren’t known for their acoustics, we didn’t care.it was live a cappella performed by outstanding performers who have been part of our summer for many years. They sang pop, rock, old standards, and a couple of songs we didn’t knowand every bit of it was great. It was the perfect way to wind up the most unusual of summers. Here is a link to their websitecheck them out when you get a chance. https://www.hyannissound.org/ #hyannissound See more

So we thought we’d ask you to share your pictures, videos and stories about how you’ve been keeping music alive in your life while so many of us have had to alter our lives during this pandemic. Whether it’s attending a socially distanced ...outdoor concert, singing with small groups of friends or other singers, or just singing in the shower, we want to hear (and share) your stories! Thanks! We look forward to hearing from you soon!

One of the easiest ways to improve stamina and vocal comfort while singing is to incorporate breathing exercises for singing into your vocal warmups. https://www.musicgrotto.com/breathing-exercises-for-singers/
