Bocce League of Rochester 05.12.2020

Still have not heard any positive news from the county parks department regarding field use permits, or regulations pertaining to our league. Honestly, it’s not looking great. To my understanding, gatherings of over 50 is not allowed, even outdoors. I appreciate everyone’s patience on this while we try to figure it out. Still hoping for the best.

SUMMER LEAGUE UPDATE: I hope all of you are doing well and keeping in good bocce shape. As many of you are aware, the county parks are still closed for the time being with a tentative reopen date later this month (phase 4) We are still unsure if we’ll have enough time for a summer league. If we are cleared to play before the 2nd week in July, we have enough teams interested in playing, and everything goes as planned with the county parks dept., game on! Once I know more, I’ll post on here when/if we’re good to go and will open up registration on our page www.bocceleagueofrochester.com. Stay safe, ballers!

Hello, bocce ballers! I hope that all of you are doing well during all of this craziness and everyone’s staying healthy and sane. I’ve been having a hard time trying to figure out the right thing to do about this season, so I’m asking for everyone’s help on this one. It’s a given that the spring season is not going to happen this year, not only due to the temporary shutdown, but also because I feel it would be irresponsible for all of us to gather in such a large, dense crowd... and put our players, their families, and loved ones at potential risk. I’m really hoping we can salvage the summer league and possibly extend it a couple of weeks to make up for the loss of our first season. Of course, in order for this to happen, things would need to feel right at the time. The last thing I want to do is to put any of you at risk. I’d love to hear your thoughts on a summer league this year. See more

Tonight’s the big night. Congrats to all teams that made the cut! Tonight we roll our final tournament of 2019. Wow, that went fast. We’ll play a single elimination bracket. The final two teams will decide if they’d like to roll one game up to 10 points, one game up to 15 points, or a standard regular season best of 3. It’s going to get dark and a little cold, so plan accordingly. I do have a stack of official black Bocce League Of Rochester hoodies available at cost ($30) if you’d like to take home something warm to remind you of how awesome our league is. See you soon, Ballers.

Reminder to all Wednesday night leaguers; tonights double header will be our last regular season game. The top 14 teams after tonight will compete in the year end final tournament next Wednesday. If you are tied with another team after tonight, one team member from your team will roll off to determine your final seed position in the tourney. Good luck to all teams!

Bocce League of Rochester 11.08.2020

Players, here’s your reminder, no bocce tonight. We’ll roll a double next Wednesday. We’ll be playing Syracuse indoors in the Expo Center at the NYS Fair. If you’d like to join us, message me soon.

I need a final headcount on next Wednesday’s NYS State Fair ROCHESTER VS SYRACUSE bocce tournament. All Rochester players will receive FREE ADMISSION and FREE PARKING to the fair. All Rochestarians are welcome. It will be held in the brand new Expo Center. Live bands and bocce! Teams will consist of 4 players and the city who accumulates the most points wins! We still need a couple teams to join to make this happen. The tournament will run from 7pm-9pm on Wednesday August 21st (the first day of the NYS Fair) If you don’t have a team of 4, don’t worry about it, we’ll form teams once everyone gets there. Please message me and let me know if you can make it. This is going to be fun!

Here’s an update from the event organizer of the Rochester vs. Syracuse NYS Fair bocce tournament. If you’re interested in joining us, please message me with a headcount. I’d love to see 100 of our players there. Hi Mike, Just wanted to follow up with you on our tournament.... We are going to have a band playing. We are also going to have a rather large 4 on 4 tournament, with a small buy in ($20 a team) where they are playing for a prize. I would like the Syracuse vs. Rochester thing to be separate from that and showcased especially. So we will have our own contest, with an announcer so people in the crowd (I expect there to be many) can follow and cheer along for. There will be no charge for any of your players (and of course free parking and free Fair tickets). Let me know approximately how many teams you can bring and I will put together an equal amount. Hopefully you can do 4 or 5 teams (more would be great too!), then we will match up Rochester teams against Syracuse teams and whoever wins the most games that city wins. I am thinking we get tee shirts for the competitors so the crowd knows who is Syracuse and who is Rochester. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Paul
