As we pack up the farm I’m finding some items that don’t need to travel south with us. I have a large stack of these cut sheets which customers have found very helpful when ordering a half or whole cow. Considering some of the absurd rumors I’ve heard I think it’s time for the official announcement! (We’re not getting divorced ya’ll). Bolster Farm is packing up and moving South. This has been an incredibly tough decision for us, especially since my veterinary business is still so young, but we both believe this is an opportunity we can’t pass up. For those of you who are clients of RVVS don’t worry! I’m not leaving the area until 2021’s busy season is over. We have a new vet...erinarian and another on the way and I won’t be moving until I’m confident that my clients will be adequately supported while I transition out. When we moved to Upstate NY, my family farms in North FL/South GA were something we loved, but not something we thought we’d be able to run cows on. After nearly 2 years of research, and the stars aligning on the North FL farm my parents have taken a leap of faith and are supporting us fencing and grazing our existing pine tree property. For those of you that don’t know, pine tree farms are quite common where I’m from and it was the only type of farming I knew as a kid. I am so incredibly excited to take on this project and work to bring a form of silvopasturing to the family operation. COVID has been a lot of things for a lot of people but for me it was a complete severing of physical contact with my family. I couldn’t visit, couldn’t travel, and if I did there could be penalties to my day job. And while 21 year old me can’t believe I’m saying this - I’m ready to move home, to weather whatever other storms may come our way alongside my family. To those of you who have supported Bolster Farm there are no words to thank you. Our customers who bought steaks, half cows, or burgers at Roger’s Cideryard made us feel so loved. I will miss our incredibly supportive neighbors and the farm community of Montgomery County so very much. The Rogers family in particular deserve a personal shout out for welcoming us onto their farm and never doubting our crazy ideas. And I can’t leave out Fred and Kami of Stubborn Girl farm for their friendship and cooking skills on our prime ribs night. There are so many more who I hope to personally thank before our departure. Meditation is a technique utilized by many for quieting the mind and redirecting stress and anxiety. The quiet form of meditation is still something I’m working on but listening to an audiobook also helps quiet my mind, calm my thoughts, and reduce my anxiety.
