Born to Track

The dog in the picture is Matt Kass' April. She is an eight-month-old Dalia von Moosbach-Zuzelek, a daughter of Odin and Xena. It is hard to comprehend that during her first tracking season, by November 2, Matt and April have found 18 deer already . What a hard working tracking team it is! GREAT NEWS Many thanks go to Gary Huber of Deer Search and United Blood Trackers, and Chuck Parker, President of the New York State Conservation Council, who made it happen! DEC is going to offer an online exam for a special license allowing to track wounded deer with leashed dogs in NY. The exam will take place in April.

Bad news from NY for prospective trackers. Apparently, DEC is not planning to offer any exams this year for obtaining a license, which is needed to legally track wounded big game with leashed dogs in NY. This would be a second year in a row, and it is due to a Covid-19 situation. One of our puppy buyers approached DEC about whether they would offer the exam online and the answer was "NO". Very disappointing!
