Thank you to our course marshals - Meagan, Jennifer, and Alfonso - at the power line trail intersection for getting these great photos! https://drive.google.com//1p2zLhNio7yXs4L-kL2RbWibZHgxpeYj
And...Breakneck Point is now live as well. Also a bit extra as everyone will get a custom beanie (we've lucked out with weather so far...at some point we're getting 32 degrees and snow squall) as well as finisher's item. T's and Truckers as add-ons. Note, we've set the caps at 150 for the marathon and 250 for the half. The Marathon at least should / will fill, so don't wait on that one. We hit a total of 400 (a bit over in '17) and got close last year the week of the race, so get on it early. Note: course subject to change per Parks permitting and trail projects. https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=71766
Here are some photos captured by Lori Semprevio as she was hiking up Breakneck.

Results are up!! If you ran with bib # 281 or 363, please send us a message or contact us via ultrasignup. We have times for these bibs, but can't match them to a name. So let us know and we'll add you into the results. If there are any other corrections/edits, also let us know! Thank you everyone for a great race and fun day!! You were all awesome out there! https://ultrasignup.com/results_event.aspx?did=61946
Thanks Brian Pj Cronin and the The Highlands Current! Red Newt Racing, Salomon Running

Now, while you will veer right on Green, it'd be lying to say there isn't more climbing ahead. There is no "easy way out" here. This is Breakneck Point. Salomon Running, #TimeToPlay, Red Newt Racing, Mountain Peak Fitness

Any chance anyone in the NYC / Peekskill area can connect with Sean Blanton about hitching a ride up race morning?

We've gotten word that the Breakneck trail won't be closing until Jan '19 - so we should be all clear for using it for this year's race!! Can't wait - Sept 8th!! We are also very close to announcing the Salomon NY Trail Series for this Fall which will kick off with the Breakneck Point Marathon! Stay tuned!!
An update from the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference: https://www.nynjtc.org//breakneck-connector-project-constr
For the fourth time in 4 years, we will be rerouting the Breakneck half and full marathon courses. This time the unfortunate reason is that the Breakneck trail will be closed indefinitely (we heard through the entire '18 hiking season) beginning in January. This means no hiking on the trail, closed parking lot, and no metro north trains stopping at the trail head. Long term, this is hopefully a good thing as there will be a new, paved parking lot along with increased signs t...o slow drivers along Route 9D. Work is also supposed to begin on the Fjord path, a bike and walking trail that will link Cold Spring, Breakneck, and Beacon. But for us, it means rerouting the course around Breakneck. So while we won't have the awesome climb that is Breakneck, there will still be plenty of quad-crushing vert and beautiful outlooks overlooking the Hudson highlands and river. http://highlandscurrent.com//09/15/breakneck-close-repairs/
If anyone is around this month, this is a great way to help out and give back to the trails. http://highlandscurrent.com/2017/09/01/fixing-breakneck/
Interesting article on Breakneck and some good reasons to support/volunteer/donate to the NY/NJ Trail Conference for all the work they are doing to support the trail. http://highlandscurrent.com//06/09/breakneck-keeps-booming/
Here are some awesome pictures taken by Joe Azze of Mountain Peak Fitness. Joe's going to continue adding more pictures this week, so keep checking back.
Some more pictures thanks to Kellie at Peak Magazine! Be sure to check out Peak Magazine for more Hudson Valley event coverage. http://www.peak-magazine.com/breakneck-point-trail-runs-17.
Congrats to everyone who raced yesterday! And big thanks to the volunteers who put in huge chunks of time and extraordinary effort to help make this race a success! Results are up on ultra sign-up. Hope to see you all next year! https://ultrasignup.com/results_event.aspx?did=40066

Due the current snow storm, we are cancelling the 1/2 Marathon Course Preview run this Saturday. Instead, Elizabeth Azze of Mountain Peak Fitness will be leading a snowshoe hike on most of the half course (skipping the climb up Breakneck). Sorry to cancel the run, but hopefully everyone can celebrate the snow by joining us for snowshoeing. Meet: 7:45 am at the Beacon Disc Golf Glades (off Rt 9D directly across the street from Craigs House, the abandoned mansion)... Distance: 11 to 13 miles with a couple of options to bail. Duration: 4 to 6 hours depending on the conditions. Gear recommendations: Snowshoes (possible micro spikes depending on how much snow is still left), high knee gaiters or a gaiter of sort to keep the snow from entering your shoes & socks. A Goretex shoe or hiker could be helpful. A water resistant shell and pant to avoid a getting wet, as of now there is snow in the forecast, (typical layering system). Hydration: A small pack containing a Nalgene bottle or Platypus bottle, really anything that will not freeze in cold temps. Sports nutrition of choice. gloves, winter hat etc. More details here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1822712791321387/
A great run this morning despite the cold and occasional wind. Thanks to everyone who came out! And to Salomon rep, Michael, for being there with demo gear and swag and Elizabeth Azze for helping lead the run. Hope everyone can join us again in two weeks when we run the 1/2 course!
For anyone needing accommodations the night before the race, we've arranged a group rate at the Hampton Inn in Fishkill. This is about 15 minutes from the start/finish. To book, use this link or call and mention the race. Group rates will be available until March 16th. http://hamptoninn.hilton.com//FHKNYHX-BPT-2017/index.jhtml
Good to have a full field. Waitlist is now live.
Around 15 spots remain in the combined field total. Still on the fence? How about tipping our way about now!
Breakneck Point 2016. Shai Ben-Dor on lens, and Django Django on music. Thankful to both.
Thanks to Ron Heerkens Jr. and Joe Azze for your passion and skill on the lense. You guys rock.
