Thank you, Jack Gillen for the photos you donated. This photo, from April 1978, is a wonderful example of the bungalow community we were from the start, This is Lincoln Walk and you can see the sign pole for West End Avenue.

As we wait for yet another snowstorm to begin, here is a photo that brings the desolation of winter residents in the past to the forefront. Thank you, Jack Gillen, for the share Lincoln Walk March 1963 when Jack Gillen's family was the only winter resident on the block. Jack had to shovel a path, after each storm, the entire length of the block to the parking lot.

I have mentioned this before, but we have so many new followers that it bears repeating. We owe so much to the Rockaway Point News for all their years of reporting on the big issues as well as the sports, community social clubs and perhaps a little gossip (how else would we know who got married? LOL). But keeping up each week is important and Mike Schramm graciously permits everyone to view the Pointer from anywhere in the world.... since most families maintain ties to their friends and relatives here, you might want to look every Friday. http://rpnewsonline.com/currentissue/RPN.pdf And if you're local, you can still pick up a free copy at the establishments that advertise in the paper.

So here we sit, quarantined, missing friends, and reliving great memories in our minds... Here are a few wonderful memories from events at the Sugar Bowl that made the summers at The Point so memorable Thank you, Maureen Ritter

Someone asked me for a photo of the Rockaway Point dock. This very crowded dock was due to the transport of the space shuttle through Rockaway Inlet. Thank you, Theresa Hyland for the share

We have several photographs of The Bambino visiting the Diffendale’s in Roxbury. He often would stop at an orphanage and pick out a group of boys to bring with him to enjoy the beach. Stop by or BPHSNY office in the medical building on a Wednesday to view the history of our community.
