I met Dani at my old LARP, and her work is amazing. Like many artists she's working a day job while also putting her all into her art hoping it'll take off so she can work doing what she loves. Exposure alone isn't enough, people admire and move on. Art shows are hard to come by and harder to get into. Patreon is a great way to support an artist without breaking the bank or buying things just to buy them. Please take a look, sign up, and know you've done a beautiful thing.
These jewelry methods really are the spirit of bricolage, creating from whatever is on hand! I'll be honest, I'm skeptical of the resin pours, the finished product looks too polished compared to the method, but I would really love to try making some of the earrings. Let me know what you think!
I've never been terribly yarny. In fact I'm about the only person in my family who didn't crochet. I always had it in my head that I never had the knack but always lamented that I "couldn't" do it. Honestly I get discouraged very easily. A week or so ago I went with a friend to go pick out yarn. I saw this skein and fell in love with the colors; this is practically me in yarn form. I decided it was time to try again. I went home, checked out a few websites and made some prac...tice rows. They turned out better than I could have imagined. I had a little cry over the time lost that I could have spent practicing instead of lamenting. I decided my first project would be a bottle sling, something I had been looking into purchasing anyway. By luck the yarn already went well with the bottle in question (see above re: the colors). I can see the spots where I miscounted stitches or my yarn tension could have been better. But the important part is that I did it, and that I know what I need to do better next time. Even in the progression of this one piece I saw how I much better I was doing. A craft takes practice. It takes trial and error. It doesn't matter if it's good or if it works the first try. Keep working, keep trying. And you're never too old to try something new.
