INFO SHEET FOR BACK TO SCHOOL COVID REQUIREMENTS Per the health department, if child is sent home for COVID symptoms: fever >100, chills, runny nose/congestion, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle/body aches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, nausea or vomiting +/- diarrhea, headache, then they must be evaluated by a medical provider. They are also required to have a mandatory COVID test before they can return to school. A clearance letter is required by a medical pro...vider to return to school. If COVID is negative, then the parent must call back when symptom free (including even runny nose or congestion) and be at least 72 hours fever free to get attestation form for school. If COVID is positive, then the health department guides their release. They have to isolate (stay away from household contacts as much as possible) not just quarantine for 10 days after symptoms onset. However, if you decide to go directly to WellNow or urgent care for the evaluation and COVID test, then you need a release letter from them. If that is not possible, then BHP will require you to be evaluated by one our medical providers before we can write any letter. We cannot take on the liability of someone else’s evaluation. If the child has been told they were exposed to COVID, they must be quarantined at home for 14 days. It is recommended to test them for COVID at day 5-7 however a negative test at that point does not allow them to come off quarantine. It just guides further testing of household contacts. They MUST quarantine for 14 days. If family refuses testing, then they must quarantine for 14 days. Household contacts of people who are being evaluated for COVID (results pending) do NOT need to quarantine. They are encouraged to separate as much as possible (distance, bathrooms, masks, etc)

If you and your family have traveled to a state on the travel advisory list, as updated regularly by our state government, and your child has a physical scheduled during the 14 day quarantine post travel period, please call to reschedule the physical. We are getting many questions about returning to school. There is no wrong decision, only the right decision you make for your children. Only you know your extended family and risk situation best as well as knowing your child ...best. Visits to our office should be limited to one parent and one child please. Masks should be worn by all adults and all children age 2 and up while in our office. We are implementing further screening methods in our office for all parents and patients to ensure the safety of not only our parents and patients, but also our staff. We have started offering COVID testing with an appointment in our office on a limited basis. The turn around time is not much different than the window for making an appointment and getting results from Water St. Call to discuss with one of our nurses if you need COVID testing. I also plan to update this site soon with options for testing. Mental health issues continue to soar. Please talk to your children and if you think they need help, please reach out to us. Family dinners offer a great forum for such discussion. On that note, please take care of yourselves too, including doing something for yourself each day. Flu vaccines will be here soon, please stay tuned right here for updates. Continue to listen to our public health and government officials for current guidelines and practice responsible social distancing.

COVID-19 Update As we have said before, these times are unprecedented! There is still so much uncertainty, in particular how long this will last. We at Brighton Hill Pediatrics continue to be here for you. We feel good about all we are doing to provide you with a safe visit. Of course, we are also doing all we can via video as well. Summer physical season is right around the corner. We would encourage you to schedule your PEs as soon as possible, as we often are scrambli...ng to squeeze in all of your children’s PEs during the summer anyway. When the children can get back to school and their activities, we do not want anyone to miss out because their physical and/or vaccinations are out of date. Maintaining proper vaccine status will also help prevent the resurgence of vaccine preventable diseases. If your insurance allows, we can even do the physical earlier, so you do not have to take time away from normalcy when it returns. Please contact us with any questions! And stay safe and healthy!
