Shout out to Ryan DePaul '14 (a.k.a. "Gorilla") on his big win!
Meet Ron Milon ‘87, first-generation college grad who’s now the Chief Diversity Officer for Fashion Institute of Technology. The #CDO shares his influences, his greatest Brockport moment, and his perspective on what this month is all about: My friends’ hate comes from misunderstanding and confusion. Hate comes from losing control and not wanting to change. Our job is to educate, protect, and to quote Frederick Douglass ‘agitate, agitate, agitate.’ The theme of #BlackHistoryMonth is a time to remember and learn. Not to breed hate. But to build bridges.
After pouring her heart & soul into Brockport life, Christal Dewberry ‘17/‘20 now supports families in the greater #ROC community through her role as a social worker at Catholic Family Center. As Christal looks back on her growth as a Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (Official) soror, student leader in Community Development, and grad research assistant for The College at Brockport Social Work Department, she reminds us that success is all about the journey, not the destination.
Bport’s #BlackHistoryMonth celebration continues with recent grad, entrepreneur, and education #advocate Jermaine Meadows ‘19. As founder and CEO of Breaking Barriers Consulting Firm and The Neighborhood Role Model, Jermaine is inspired by many from Malcolm X to Miss P in his work centered around community development and youth advocacy. Give it up for Jermaine.
