We have been saying since the start of the pandemic, consumer debts weren't simply going to go away. The debt collectors were sitting on the sidelines waiting for the courts to reopen. With pent up demand, we knew there was going to be a deluge of new debt collection cases at a time when consumers were most vulnerable. Now we see that the debt collectors have been profiting from federal stimulus money. Rather then using that money to buy food an essential needs, apparently we have socialized the debt collection industry.
