Bronx Third Ave El 28.01.2021

On this day Feb 3, 1973 another great photo of a N/B R12 train at the 200th St station was captured by Steve Zabel. Steve was covering the White Plains Road Line that day, although he probably ended up here on the 3rd Ave El. This and the rest of the photos of that day are preserved at the nycsubway.org site.

This scene is about 100 yards South of the Botanical Garden RR station and there is more information about this wreck that is described in another posting.

On Aug 30, 1969 a few rail fans took a ride on the Bronx 3rd Ave El in a red R12 train. On this date, the New York City Transit Authority placed a four car train of R12’s, (cars 5753, 5754, 5755 and 5756), in service on the IRT 3rd Avenue El in The Bronx. Photo by: Doug Grotjahn from nycsubway.org
