The design for this intervention will address a variety of goals including: animal and habitat thematic vocabulary exposure, letter/sound identification (A), early speech sounds (open vowel), following directions, attending ability, bilateral arm movements (meeting at mid line), and the main feature.... IMPULSE CONTROL!!! Have fun and post a video of your favorite kiddo trying it out in the comments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1K0YJnIEYP4&t=66s
The Music THERAPIST mommy becomes the Music EDUCATOR mommy during distance learning. Thank you to all the real music educators for all of the creative ways that you are keeping music alive for all of your students. Us Music Therapists could not become music therapists without the influence of our music educators.
A music supplement to "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" To encourage sequencing, vocalizations, vocabulary, literacy exposure, and more! https://youtu.be/sL0pTWHXjWk

Music therapy, by it's very definition, and similar to other human services, is based on a relationship between therapist and client. There is something to be said about creating music in a shared place and feeling the immediate transfer of energy between two humans as the process unfolds. While the Coronavirus won't stop us from doing therapy, albeit through new means, it feels different. It is however comforting to know that this is merely temporary, and for now, despite our physical distance, our UNION in separating is impacting the Global process.
Success is being had with Telehealth Music Therapy!!! Look at that FOCUS!!! Step aside Corona Virus, Music therapy coming through!
Hello parents!! I have added some of the transition songs that we use during sessions and at school with our students to a public You Tube channel. Please feel free to access them to continue to structure your new home routines. The following is a clean up song that most of my clients are familiar with. I will continue to add helpful resources here throughout the social distancing. Please comment and let me know if you need support with a specific objective.
"Chicken Wing" A song to teach clients/students to cough or sneeze into their elbows. Use in your therapy sessions, classrooms, homes, city bus or anywhere you may need to. COVID-19 Makes it's music therapy debut.
