The staff at BVC completed a wellness challenge for the last 3 months. Congrats to Brooke, Sam, Amanda, Erin, Nicole, and Michelle! Here at BVC we pride on ourselves on trying to stay healthy and exercise!

October is our office managers birth month! We celebrated by sharing a delicious cheese cake! Happy birthday Brooke!

October is medical ultrasound awareness month! Buffalo Vascular Care would like give a nice shout out to thank our two sonographers for the hard work they do to help give our patients the best care possible! Thank you Kerry and Nicole for all you do!

Compression socks need to fit tightly against the skin in order to apply firm pressure. There are a few things you can do to make your compression therapy more comfortable: Prep your feet and legs. During the summer, the hot weather will make you sweat. Putting on compression socks with sweat, water or even lotion on your legs will be difficult. You can ease the process by applying a coat of talcum powder or corn starch. The powder will absorb moisture and make your legs smoo...th, allowing for easy donning. Do it in the morning. Ensure that you put on your compression socks early in the morning before you begin your day. Your legs will be much less swollen first thing in the morning, making it easier to put on your compression hose. Use back support. Finally, when putting on compression socks, ensure that you sit in a chair with firm back support. Putting on compression socks is a little harder than donning regular socks and you may need to tug them or brace yourself against the chair. Having good back support can give you a sturdy base to work from.

This week is PA week, and BVC would like to recognize our two Physicians Assistants, Blanka and Erin! They work hard every day seeing our new patients, and following up with our existing ones. Their days can get really busy with all the patients they see and help, and we greatly appreciate all of their efforts! Thanks Blanka and Erin, keep up the always excellent work!

Fun Fact Friday! THE BODY CAN FORM NEW VESSELS WHEN ONE IS BLOCKED, a process called angiogenesis or neovascularization. On the positive side, this is the process by which flesh wounds heal, drawing nutrients and oxygen from the nearest healthy capillaries to the site of those that are damaged; this isn't too hard given how numerous capillaries are in the body.
