Flashback Friday! In 2015 we teamed with Highland Associates for the renovation at Johnson City CSD High School. Renovations were planned to bring the facilities up to their standard for academic and athletic spaces. Capital improvements included a new concession stand and entry plaza; new athletic building adjacent to the football field; as well as renovations to the locker rooms, science classrooms, auditorium, gymnasium, and cafeteria. We’re at Cornell University today working with Van Zandbergen Photography to photograph the completed first phase of the North Campus Residential Expansion project. In collaboration with ikon.5 architects and over 30 prime contractors, Welliver was the construction manager for this 776,000 SF student life residential complex for first year students and sophomores. #constructionmanagement #preconstruction #highereducationconstruction #ithacany

Flashback Friday to 2010 when we constructed the Brian C. Nevin Plantations Welcome Center at Cornell University. Experiencing a dramatic growth in college, secondary, and community visitors annually, Plantations Botanical Gardens needed a central location to welcome visitors and facilitate educational programs. The Center features a twostory atrium and lobby, worldrenowned Hadley Exhibits, public facilities, reception area, a café, and gift shop. To expand the Plantation’s educational programming, the Center has a 100+ seat classroom and a conference room on the second floor. Check out the specially-curved Brazilian wood louvers and natural stone. Building Memories! Reminiscing the time when Welliver built the new lobby in the Clemens Center, the region's premier performing arts center located in Elmira, NY. Home to Broadway musicals, classical music, dance and pop, as well as educational series, this unique structure required critical design alignment of inside terrazzo and carpeting with outside concrete, porcelain tiled restrooms that required diamond bit drills, a curtain wall fashioned of horizontal bands of glass, and a 37-foot tall marquee. Flashback Friday! Welliver constructed the CNY Newspaper Group’s $50M, 96,000 SF press plant for the pressconnects.com / Press & Sun-Bulletin, stargazette.com / Star-Gazette, and ithacajournal.com / Ithaca Journal. The plant houses a high-technology press and production facility, and at the time, it was the most modern and technically advanced press facility in the world. Fun facts circa 2004-2006: the building's press was manufactured by Koenig & Bauer and featured 8 print towers and 10 reel stands. The press is 150’ long and 57’ tall, the equivalent of a 6-story building. The press allowed for full color on every page of each publication and was capable of printing 75,000 newspapers an hour. #constructionmanagement #preconstruction #industrialconstruction

Wayback Wednesday! In order to meet the students’ growing need for health and recreation facilities on campus, Ithaca College called on Welliver and Chiang O'Brien Architects, DPC to design and construct a new barreled-roof fitness center with two below-grade gymnasiums and an equipment room with free weights, treadmills and other equipment. This 40,000 SF fitness center holds numerous workout rooms, basketball courts, squash courts, a pool, and the College’s Office of Recreation. #generalconstruction #highereducationconstruction
