Then vs. Now Photography by Liam Axton Exhibit Opens March 6, 2021 Exhibition on Display From 3.6 - 5.1... Located in the Binghamton Photo 1st Floor Gallery, 32 Cedar Street (Adjacent to the Bundy Museum) Admission to Art Gallery is Always Free NEW Bundy Museum Winter Hours Tuesday & Saturday 11am-5pm Our galleries are currently open following Covid-19 guidelines. Please be sure to book your reservation. https://www.bundymuseum.org/campus/visit/#scheduling Artist Statement: For the past eight years I have been on a journey of self healing. After being raped in 2013 my life took a downward spiral. I resorted to alcohol and drugs to try and escape from the nightmares and constant flashbacks of what had happened. Things just kept getting harder as I became more intoxicated. I was rarely sober, and when I was it wouldn’t last very long. After a long time I decided to get help. My professors at the time told me that working on a project about what happened to me could help me in the healing process. And it definitely has. Over the course of the last few years I have healed tremendously. My journey isn’t over yet, but I have come a long way from all of the self hatred that I had towards myself. This project is about my journey from self hatred to self love and forgiveness. Artist Bio: Liam was born in Massachusetts in 1995. He spent his early childhood homeschooling and moving around the United States and Australia. Liam was first introduced to photography in high school. After high school Liam decided to continue his education and attended the local community college where he was able to take more photo classes. He decided that this is what he wanted to do and applied to art school. Liam studied for his BFA in photography at the state university of New York at New Paltz. He graduated in December of 2018. The Bundy Museum Presents: The Whitmans Create - Art Exhibit Virtual Tour The Art of Rebecca & Stephen Whitman W/Guest Artists Alex Peck & Trevor Whitman ... Exhibit Opens December 4th, 2020 Exhibition on Display from 12.4 12.29 Located in The Bundy Museum’s 3rd Floor Art Gallery Admission to Art Gallery is Always Free Tuesday Saturday 11-5PM The Whitmans Create.... Together..... Both artists in their own right have beautiful pieces and styles but as a husband and wife team they enjoy creating pieces together at times also. And sometimes they even invite other artists to join them. It's a true expression of the artist's soul to set ego aside and create a piece with another artist. Together they have created and worked together on approximately 18-20 art pieces as husband and wife and have grown as artists and in their marriage as a result. "We teach together.... create together.... and live together. It is an interesting combination and one that requires balance. It is one that has helped us discover so much about ourselves and become better people for ourselves and our family. We are so grateful for this creative magic carpet ride we have taken together." Wallace Nutting (November 17, 1861 July 19, 1941) Wallace Nutting was a U.S. minister, photographer, artist, and antiquarian, who is most famous for his landscape photos of New England. He also was an accomplished author, lecturer, furniture maker, antiques expert and collector. His atmospheric photographs helped spur the Colonial Revival style. Photography... In 1904 he opened the Wallace Nutting Art Prints Studio on East 23rd Street in New York. After a year he moved his business to a farm in Southbury, Connecticut. He called this place "Nuttinghame". In 1912 he moved the photography studio to Framingham, Massachusetts; in a home he called "Nuttingholme". That year he published a catalog of prints that was 97 pages and included about 900 images. By 1915, Nutting claimed to be earning $1,000 per day. Nutting's photographs ranged in subject and price to suit a variety of tastes; His catalog included pastoral scenes such as views of abbeys, cathedrals, bridges, mountains, flowers, and winding roads. One of his most common themes was "Colonials", which were photos of women in traditional 18th-Century roles. These were traditional pictures of femininity, usually pictured indoors in front of a chest, chair, or looking glass. His prints sold from $1.25 to $20. Nutting authored several books about the scenic beauties of New England, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. In the peak of his business he employed about two hundred colorists. By his own account, Wallace Nutting sold ten million pictures. Wallace Nutting's colorists painted the photographs which he took. These colorists would sometimes sign Wallace Nutting's name on the photos which is why the signatures vary. Cat Chapel - The Art of Phoenix Thunder Lee Kacyvenski Artist Bio: I’ve moved around all my life, living in Vermont, Georgia, and Hudson Valley New York, then finally to Vestal New York. I have interacted with all different kinds of people across the country and have experienced events that I will never forget. The diversity and constant change that I’ve been through is a very important part of my artistic process and the reason each of my pieces express an individual distinc...tion from one another. I work on canvas, drawing paper and watercolor paper. I use acrylic, oil and enamel paint, with chalk pastel, charcoal and graphite pencil. Artist Statement: Throughout my life, the majority of my works have been formed from observations and strong emotional connections and feelings that living souls encounter each day. My work represents the deep thoughts of humanity, the thoughts that no one ever tells each other or gets to know about, and the thoughts that can’t be typed out but only seen and understood through imagery and creativity. I use various mediums and layering techniques that I’ve developed, to give a texturized, uneven, colorful surface on my canvas after complete.
