If you’ve ever been to my office you’ll notice that in every room I have a picture of a sea turtle (thanks to one of my patients I now have one in my last room too!). I LOVE turtles and I LOVE what the represent: . Slow still gets you there . This is a great way to think about acupuncture and your body healing. Just because progress is slow doesn’t mean it’s not happening. The body takes time to heal and if you stick with it you’ll always make it there. After all, turtles always end up at their destination even if it takes a while to get there. Don’t give up

#flashbackfriday to acupuncture school! I miss getting needled all the time and learning things in person! While I still keep up on new research and techniques it’s just not the same as being in person. Hopefully soon we will all be able to be close again!

Can you believe Thanksgiving is already next week? With the end of the year and the holiday season near, don’t forget to set up your acupuncture appointments in advance! I recommend going online and setting up your appointments for the next few weeks as there will be days and times unavailable due to holiday scheduling. You know what they say , the early bird gets the worm (or the acupuncture appointment!)

Acupuncture is a very energy heavy medicine. Every time an acupuncturist works to heal someone they are giving and exchanging energy with the person so it’s very important to find someone you’re really comfortable with. . One of the things I love most about acupuncture is that it is not an exact science. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done a treatment that another practitioner has done and gotten different results than they have. Another example would be how many diffe...rent diagnoses you could come up with for a single issue. (We used to joke in school that if one person came in with a migraine and six acupuncturists looked at the person they would each have six different ways of treating the patient). That’s what’s so amazing about acupuncture, there are always different ways to treat a problem. . The absolute most important thing when looking for an acupuncturist is that you find someone that you feel comfortable with, that you can open up to, and that you feel good energy from. See more

Who doesn’t love a good pear? It’s a delicious fruit, it’s great in the fall and it benefits your lungs! Asian pears can help moisten your lungs when dealing with cough, clear heat in the lungs and nourish and in turn strengthen them. With cold and flu season at our door step (not to mention COVID) it’s a quick and easy way to help stay healthy. . I like to eat my pears cooked with some cinnamon. What’s your favorite way?

Listened to an interesting podcast from Dr. Mark Hyman where he explains how the theory in western medicine is to name it, blame it and tame it. Basically, if you are having several different types of symptoms the best way to handle it is to find the illness that covers the most symptoms, blame that for the reason you’re feeling ill and give a medication to help fix it instead of offering diet and lifestyle advice to make better and longer lasting changes. . In Chinese medi...cine we look to get to the root cause of the issues, and sometimes there’s more than one. Since my friend Erin moved to town we have been talking a lot about nutrition and how it effects the body. I’ve noticed since I started giving out more dietary advice, the people that are sticking to it are seeing results much faster. Some are losing weight, some are lowering their insulin and some are having an easier time conceiving! . In my opinion, the best approach to any illness or struggle is an integrated approach. Medication can be important and needed, but let’s try some diet and lifestyle changes as well to see if we can reduce the amount of time on a medication. The most important thing is to keep yourself healthy and happy for as long as possible See more

Repost from @6babebeauty We out here! I LOVE when new research on acupuncture comes out, not because we need the validation, but because I believe it helps people in the western world wrap their mind around it more. . Acupuncture and Chinese herbs were used in almost all the treatment plans in Wuhan during the peak of their Covid-19 outbreak, alongside western medication, and they contained it. Due to different lifestyles, diets and body types we had a lot of complications tr...eating it here in the West. One of those main factors being the underlying inflammation people have here which creates a perfect home for viruses and really many illnesses. That’s why this Harvard research is SO important to show how acupuncture is effective and amazing at reducing inflammation in the body! . This is a regulatory medicine that should be incorporated in your regular healthcare routine, it just knows what to do, pure magic @ Caitlin Bree Acupuncture See more

One of the things it love most about acupuncture is that it can help anything. In my clinic I see women’s health issues, pain, migraines, insomnia, digestive issues and more. I love when people try to challenge me and say things like acupuncture can’t set bones when they are broken. No, it can’t. But it can help with the pain associated with the break and help your body to heal faster! Acupuncture also helps to boost your immune system and help you fight off Illnesses faster, and who can’t use a little of that these days?

Coffee lovers unite! People are always shocked to find out how much I love coffee. There’s something so warm and comforting about the smell and taste of coffee, but not everyone can/should be drinking it 1,000x/day. Check out my latest blog post to find out two coffee substitutes I use when I feel like I need a little coffee detox. https://www.caitlinbreeacupuncture.com/blog/
