Beautiful drone video of Campbell Island on the Hudson including the river and Town of Bethlehems Park and boat launches with kayak rental hub to the west and the Papscanee Creek to the east.
Announcing great news that could reopen the wonderful riverfront on Campbell Island in the belief that The waterfront is a public resource, no matter who owns the land. Access, view must be protected for us all. 1. A recommendation by Scenic Hudson’s new Public Access to the Hudson's plan to maintain the rail crossing on Staats Is. Rd. and to reopen this road to run south from the Papscanne Preserve to Campbell island; 2. Public land on Campbell can be transferred to 'any m...unicipality, public entity, or non-profit corporation or organization, for a park or recreation,' to allow the public to reach and enjoy their riverfront on limited basis, but better than none. Am now approaching Open Space Institute, Scenic Hudson and others to pursue this golden opportunity especially in this difficult time when access to the river could bring much needed joy and peace to so many. Reaching out once again to open the wonderful riverfront on Campbell Island because I believe The waterfront is a public resource, no matter who owns the land.... Access, view must be protected for us all. Here's the current situation that greatly strengthens this opportunity: 1. Scenic Hudson’s new Public Access to the Hudson River‘s plan recommends maintaining the at-grade rail crossing on Staats Island Road and reopening this road to continue south from the Papscanne Preserve to Campbell island; 2. The state said Public land on Campbell next to private land can be transferred to 'any municipality, public entity, or non-profit corporation or organization, for a park or recreation,' which would allow reopening access so the public can reach and enjoy their riverfront (such access may be limited but better than none). Am now approaching Open Space Institute, Scenic Hudson and others to pursue this golden opportunity especially in this difficult time when access to the river could bring much needed joy and peace to so many. Please contact me for updates and to lend your support. And please share this news. Thanks. Jeanne Casatelli 518-207-7320. [email protected]
