November is KidBooWriMo - short for Kids’ Book Writing Month - a month-long writing & illustrating un-workshop. It's open to kids in 4th grade through high school who tell stories, draw comics, and write novels! Seed packets and unworkshop kits available at the library starting Oct 26 - and you can call the library at 659-7258 to reserve one.

This weeks take home prize for all Summer Reading participants is a Sand Mandala! Mandalas are usually circular geometric patterns. The word mandala comes from Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language that literally means circle. The circle is seen as a form without beginning and end like the universe. You can still sign up for Summer Reading in the library lobby. You get to pick a free brand new book and weekly prizes, as well as enter for drawings at the end of summer. We've had a few people ask this question about returned items. So, in case you've been wondering, too, here's the Q & A. Q: I returned materials to the library ...yesterday, and those items are still checked out on my card. Why? A: Returned items must be quarantined for three days to stop the potential spread of the virus. Items will be held for three days after they are returned before being checked in. You will not incur any fines in this three-day period. The safety of our staff and patrons is our top priority!

We were sad to hear of the passing of Joanna Cole, whose Magic School Bus books transported millions of young people on extraordinary and educational adventures.
