A grand experiment in outdoor masked music! Come and join us.
This giving Tuesday, please consider supporting the Canterbury Choral Society in your annual giving. We are a performing arts organization that continues to rehearse and plan for upcoming events all while maintaining the physical and financial health of our community. We strive to: -Return to singing as a group, first virtually, then socially distanced. -Keep singing and making music as our central goal for building community.... -Maintain the artistic and financial health of Canterbury by restarting the year in whatever method is feasible, sensible, and safe. Please consider supporting Canterbury today and this season! https://www.canterburychoral.org/
Are you interested in singing great choral works? Have you been singing in the past but haven't found the right ensemble to join? Consider joining the Canterbury Choral Society for this coming season! We will start the year off with a concert of the most beautiful Advent and Christmas music: Bach's Christmas Oratorio. Email [email protected] to schedule a brief audition with conductor Jonathan De Vries. Rehearsals start September 9! https://www.canterburychoral.org/rehearsalschedule
We are having a great time with our Zoom rehearsals. Nicest part former singers who had moved away have been able to come back!
Making Music in the COVID-19 Era: Canterbury Choral Society’s officers and board are working closely with artistic director Jonathan De Vries and Church of the Heavenly Rest to reimagine ways to offer music safely in this time. The chorus is rehearsing through Zoom, with extra support from our talented section leaders. We plan to offer an abbreviated outdoor concert of holiday music, including the Hallelujah Chorus from our spring concert piece, Handel’s Messiah. We hope to... resume some form of in-person rehearsals in the new year, and offer the full Handel piece in the spring, followed by Mozart’s Mass in C in early summer. https://www.canterburychoral.org/
We are a community of singers and musicians, and we will make music together in whatever format and method we can, and find ways to share our artistry with our audiences. Say tuned for announcements about our upcoming, modified season!
Keep your lamps trimmed and burnin’ The Canterbury Choral Society stands with the Black Community in solidarity. Let all artists continue to show light on the injustices of our society and help us make art and music to remind others what work there is left to be done.
Thinking of you all in Canterbury Choral Society. Enjoy this beautiful performance of Mozart’s Ave Verum!
