I have been silent for over 14 months. Today, I break the silence. Why is Patrick PJ McMahon still a free man 14 months after Steven’s death!? Every single mo...nth we have gone to the courts to represent Steven (who remains nameless in the case) and every time there is a 5 minute hearing and it is adjourned until a month later. For over 14 months my family has endured holidays, birthdays and everyday events without Steven. Every event has been heartbreaking. At Easter we spent much of our time crying at the dinner table. At Thanksgiving we were again empty in our hearts and putting on a smile for the kids in our family but feeling sad inside. At Christmas we didn’t even go out with family. We were afraid to be on the roads. Afraid to be another victim of wreckless and impaired driving. January 13th, 2020 came around (one year after Steven’s death) and again no answers to when justice will be served. We spent the day again together crying and remembering the person we once received the best hugs from. We’ve spent days crying, mornings talking to a tombstone, nights explaining to our daughter that Uncle Stevie couldn’t visit and countless drives remembering and smiling at once was but most of all crying for what will never be. We will never see Steven marry. We will never see Steven have children of his own. We will never be able to grow old with our best friend and share laughs about our past together on the couch as our kids play together. We will never see that smile again. We will never have an argument with our brother just for him to respond I love you. He always knew that at the end of the day we weren’t promised the next day. And so he never ended a convo without saying I love you. I am grateful for that. Back to Patrick McMahon. On the day of the incident, Steven’s name and face was put on the news. And Patrick McMahon remained nameless. Why!?!? News 12 Long Island Every month we have to face the man responsible for Steven Sarvis death. We have had to watch him say not guilty as the horrific details of the night are released. We see him show up in the summer with a tan. We see him pack the courthouse with family and friends. We see NO remorse. Why is he allowed to do this? Why is he given so much time with his family when he has had a blatant disregard for the pain and suffering we endure every single day? Is it because he was a police officer?? Is he above the law?? He should have known better! He should’ve known that he was not okay to drive. Put him behind bars. There is an insurmountable amount of evidence! Why do we have an issue with impaired driving in NYS? BECAUSE THE ONLY THING THE CRIMINALS GET IS A SLAP ON THE WRIST. And what are the families left with? Heartache. Pain. And a feeling of my family member’s life isn’t important enough for justice. I’m so sick and tired of seeing on the news over and over and over again that there are more victims to impaired driving and that there is no justice served. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. NO MORE VICTIMS. JUSTICE FOR STEVEN. Put Patrick McMahon behind bars! Please share this for Steven. Please share this for no more victims. Please put our story out there.
