Blow-outs use an object (in this case a Yupo stencil) to mask or protect the paper from the water spray. The resulting paper takes on the object’s silhouette. Sculptural Papermaking - Sunday, April 14th https://bit.ly/2Cv9w8t This popular workshop explores the sculptural possibilities of handmade paper. Participants will use high shrinkage unbleached flax along with nylon stocking armatures to form small sculptural objects. Once the piece has dried the armature will be removed, leaving a hollow seamless paper form. Basic sheet forming, pigmenting and armature building will be reviewed. Workshop Hours 10am - 4pm

Watch Shannon easily create a blowout with our new Blowout Hose Nozzle. A 3-jet nozzle breaks water into a fine mist, producing a gentle spray that washes away the negative areas of a stencil, leaving the protected areas intact. Simply attach to a hose and control the water flow using the brass shut-off valve. We recommend using Yupo or Mylar for the stencil.

Here is Shannon Brock making cotton knit paper using one of our new Professional Wove Moulds and Deckles. These ashwood moulds and deckles are a necessity for any serious papermaker. They have wooden ribs for effortless couching and optimal water drainage, are hand stitched with bronze screening, and sealed with linseed oil If cared for properly, these moulds and deckles will last a lifetime. Cotton knit is our newest pulp and is refined from cotton knit rag it has a low...er shrinkage than Abaca, and will make a softer, white sheet of paper. It’s also perfect for calligraphy just add Kaolin Clay to your pulp for a smoother sheet of paper.
