It's our roygbiv holiday lights! These make me smile every time I see them. The magic begins with my fave armature - tomato cages. Huge thanks to a friend for this year's installation. #holiday #lights #roygbiv #FestiveAF

And a wonderful new chain of #ArtItForward has started. This time, it's by the fab @karenswimmer . Look at that shawl! And the story behind it is so inspiring. Wowzer!! #Repost @karenswimmer CALLING out my girl @turtleflyhandmade to gift this shawl to. My friends @cat.clay and @sunshynesilverwear started an art movement..gifting art unexpectedly to a fellow artist. Not only is this amazing, but this shawl started as a way to raise money for BLM groups and the ...East High food pantry as a pattern/yarn purchase by @tinaturnerknits this summer. I think art is the coolest way to spread love, hope and encouragement. CRAFTIVISIM IS AMAZING! crafters, artisans, makers never seem to say no to giving ...and I love that and the tribe of people I call my friends. Jennie I hope you can find a treasure to pass on to another artist to keep this moving! There is a blurb from Erin about this this came to be in the second picture Please remember to tag #ArtItForward #sharingiscaring #ROC #rochesterny #585 #craftivism #craftivist See more

Here's the first link in our #ArtItForward project! Sunshyne Silverwear received our Garcia mug (supported by a kind donation) and will be giving one of her great pieces to another artist. Yay! You don't have to wait to be picked! Start another chain! Just pick a piece of your art, then gift it to a fellow creative! And repeat. Let's get festive! And please tag your posts with #ArtItForward , so we can follow all the adventures. #SharingIsCaring

How does $30 and a broken mug set off a happy chain reaction among artists? Read on, artists, & be part of it. A few days ago, a wonderful person who works for a cultural institution venmo'd me $30. I asked why, and she said she's doing this to support artists. Mind you, she isn't a Richie Rich, and lives on a budget. I was appreciative, but wondered what to do with this gift. ... A few hours later, Erin Gursslin contacted me, asking how best to glue a handle back on a Jerry Garcia mug. My first answer - there's no good way. But my 2nd answer was, please accept a replacement mug from me & art it forward. This was such a fun way to use that $30 gift. And together we decided to start Art It Forward. Because artists have also been hit hard by the pandemic. No shows, no First Fridays, inventory that languished in closed shops, still paying studio rent. And this is a fun way to appreciate creatives. So we're gifting pieces of art to fellow artists, and asking that they do the same. Any size, any value. And this isn't middle school dodge ball - you don't have to wait to be selected. You can start your own Art It Forward chain. Just pick a piece of your art & give it to an artist. Ask them to post it - including our banner and hashtag. And ask them to repeat the cycle with their own art. Let's get creative in showing our fellow creatives how much we care. You gotta have art. #ArtItForward #SharingIsCaring
