September 18, 2020 Dear Residents and Family Members, Late yesterday, the NY State Department of Health issued clarification regarding the revised/additional guidelines for visitors which became effective on Thursday, September 17.... Clarification - As of September 17th: All visitors MUST present a verified negative COVID-19 test result that was taken within the last week (7 days). Visitation MUST be refused if the individual(s) fails to present such negative test result, exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms, or does not pass the screening questions. For nursing homes that had already resumed visitation under previous guidance, the nursing home may allow visitation without the presentation of a verified negative test result for a transition period until September 24, 2020. Visitors under the age of 18 years old are prohibited from visiting residents at this time. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. Please note: We have asked and are awaiting a response from the Department of Health if visitors under the age of 18 must also show proof a negative COVID-19 test within 7 days of the visit as of September 25, 2020. Cayuga Nursing and Rehabilitation Center must abide by these New York State Department of Health requirements. We understand the confusion and angst this has caused many of you. Please contact Kevin Dean with any questions or to schedule/reschedule your upcoming visit. [email protected] or (607) 273-8072, ext. 122.
