This is the history of a floor cloth painted on canvas. I painted it for a clients kitchen. She had a large collection of Mackenzie/Child’s furniture and dishes. It was really a challenge. I have done many other smaller of my own designs. You can see them at the gallery.

We infuse into oil a variety of plants and herbs such alkanet, madder and turmeric root, calendula, chamomile, & comfrey leaves, annatto seeds, and spirulina (blue-green algae). Natural everyday ingredients such as beer, coffee, green tea, honey, oatmeal, and goat’s milk impart color AND they are great for your skin! Have you ever heard of The Legend of the Balsam Rose? We wrote the legend as we developed or original logo. It is both a fable and a metaphor. We are stronger when we all work together. Did you know that Balsam Rose handcrafted soap is made by the hot process method of soapmaking? The oils and butters are heated with the lye in a crockpot. The heat speeds up the soap making reaction, which is known saponification. The batch is cooled slightly before adding essential oils and herbs so they keep their natural strength and healing properties. The batch is then packed into wooden soap molds overnight.
