Prior to getting into a learning situation, students have their personal concerns/interest. However, many teachers undermine students’ interest/concerns. Many teachers expect students to automatically change from considering and attending to personal concerns to considering and attending to teachers’ set tasks, but without first helping the students to understand why they should make such a change. Some teachers interpret this act of shifting attention from personal concern t...o teachers’ set tasks as equivalent to shifting attention from one concept to another, as learning. However, skills in shifting attention from one concern to another may reflect awareness of a personal object of interest that one seeks to achieve; it does not guarantee effective learning. When these students’ tendencies are conflated, many teachers fail to consider the process and or thinking through which a person prioritizes occurrences or tasks that a person may engage. In other words, many teachers do not deliberately help students to learn or understand how objects of students’ interest may be related to objects of learning tasks. The result is that many students continue to attend to their concerns/interests, while they strive to address the teachers’ set tasks. Thus, students are said to attend to learning tasks with divided attention, and students fail to achieve the intended objectives of learning tasks. . Many teachers continue to conflate students’ interest. The Content and Strategy Centered Teaching and Learning (CSCTL) is a book for all educators; CSCTL extensively addressed most of the problems that many teachers face when they must understand students’ interest and help students to develop increased interest in learning; stay ahead, get your copy of the CSCTL at https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_nossMartin Odudukudu
