We’ve started distributing these paper bag puppet kits to participating member libraries for take and make projects. They include everything needed to make fun puppets that were Parents’ Magazine Best Toys of the Year and Parents’ Choice Approved Award winners! Did you know that playing with puppets can help children develop literacy skills through talking, singing, and storytelling? If you’ve already picked up a kit and made your puppet, we’d love to see a picture in the comments!

Clinton-Essex-Franklin Library System is seeking to hire a person to fill the position of Administrative Assistant. This is a full time competitive civil service position. Administrative Assistant duties include but are not limited to: reviewing and verifying information on abstracts, vouchers, etc.; taking and transcribing Board Meeting minutes; evaluating and making recommendations to Department Head for needed equipment and supplies; and performing related work necessary f...or the efficient execution of administrative functions. The salary range is $30,000.00 to $45,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include accrued sick, personal, and vacation time off, as well as health, vision, and life insurance. Other benefits include, New York State Retirement, Cafeteria 125 program, and Fidelity Investment 403B. Hours of operation are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and the regular work week is 37.5 hours. Occasional work outside of the regular hours is required. Successful candidates will have a thorough knowledge of principles and practices of office management, including personnel methods and procedures, organization, reporting and communication, and sound judgement. Minimum qualifications include residency in Clinton, Franklin, or Essex county, a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least 2-6 years of administrative or program management experience with a public agency or private business. Library Page duties include but are not limited to: shelving and organizing library collection materials, performing simple clerical tasks, charging and discharging library materials, operating basic library equipment, and performing related work as needed. Successful candidates must have the ability to understand and carry out written and ora...l directions, perform work accurately, and be willing to follow a prescribed routine. The minimum qualifications include residency in Clinton, Franklin, or Essex County and a high school diploma or equivalent. The starting hourly wage is $11.80 with annual incremental increases. The hours of operation are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and the work hours are limited to 16 hours per week.
