Just checking in with all of our CFCM alumni and friends. We hope you are all well. How have your practices been affected by COVID 19? The residency program has cancelled usual rotations and all residents are working either at the Allen Hospital, ED, or seeing patients by phone/video. Resident lectures are by zoom and we are all becoming more expert at that. Everyone has pulled together in an amazing way to help each other and take care of our patients! There have been a lot of changes and we are expecting more, but so far everyone is safe. If you have any messages for our hard-working residents on this Doctor's Day, please post and I'll pass them along to anyone not on the Facebook page.

First year resident Sarah Phillips was Resident of the Month for the NY Presbyterian/Columbia campus. Here is her nomination statement: Below is a comment from one of the nursing staff at the Allen Hospital. Although she is in her first year of residency, Sarah already stands out for her professionalism and collaborative attitude. Faculty have described her as positive, kind, respectful, warm, and patient-oriented. I appreciate very much the patience, and the care that you... showed during my shift where I took care of my first ‘comfort care’ patient. As a novice nurse, we power through being overwhelmed and nervous head on because we have to focus on addressing patient needs, being safe, being efficient, etc. Dr. Sarah Phillips and Dr. Himabindu Kattamuri Ekanadham (Family Medicine faculty member) took time to personally see me at the nurses station to answer any question or concern if I had any. That was an assurance other nurses only dream of in other facilities. I know that I’m working with awesome human beings! Extending your patience receiving a million texts from me . . ., this is why it’s awesome to be a part of one of the best hospitals in the nation! You’re one of the reasons why amazing things happen here at NYP! Thank you. See more

It’s a chief resident trifecta! Judy Chertok, Jesse Kayal, and Kristen Semanision, chief residents from 2009-2010, are all at FMX! Kristen, I’m sorry I missed you at the One Medical Booth. I did get to spend a few minutes with Judy - she’s Assistant Residency Director at U Penn, works with medical students, and does MAT. #FamilyDocsDoItAll

Residency grad Anoop Raman is now CMO of Absolute Care, an ambulatory ICU that cares for very ill people in the office and decreases hospitalizations. Thanks, Anoop - I learned a lot from our hallway discussion!
