Runaways and homelessness: LGBTQ+ youth have an increased rate of being vulnerable to recruitment by traffickers. There are several factors that contribute to this: Family abandonment due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, lack of support, and foster care involvement. Once on the street, youth may be forced to survive by trading sexual acts to meet their basic needs: Food, shelter and safety. To find out more about our mentoring program call our hotline at (845) 634-3344 and ask for Aelis Rivera or email us at [email protected]
