Steinway Sunday Announcement! At 2:00 pm, October 18, our church is thrilled to resume Steinway Sundays, Season II, "Impressionism in Jazz". This sensational performance/lecture series by pianist Krista Seddon connects jazz to its historical context and commonality with classical music. On October 18, Krista will present "Gershwin's Americanization of European Music" performing these works: The Man I Love George & Ira Gershwin Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man Jerome Kern Someone To ...Watch Over Me George & Ira Gershwin I Got Rhythm George & Ira Gershwin Medley George & Ira Gershwin Prelude - Blue Lullaby George Gershwin Porgy and Bess George Gershwin, Dubose Heyward, Summertime Ira Gershwin I Loves You Porgy Rhapsody In Blue George Gershwin COVID-19's crushing impact here and everywhere has been particularly difficult for our church, although under the leadership of our pastor, Mary Kelly, the church has continued its services on-line through Facebook and YouTube, and on our lawn during the summer. Now, in order to reflect at least an extended period of COVID-19 concerns, our church has moved our parlor piano, and the Steinway Sundays program, to our beautiful sanctuary. The sanctuary, under normal times, can seat over 1,000 people. Its pews are now divided into safe, well-spaced segments for our church services and for Steinway Sundays. Krista was a great friend of, and collaborator with, Marian McPartland, whose Piano Jazz series was the longest running series on National Public Radio. You can read about Krista on the Steinway Sundays Website link above. We plan to complete the three remaining performances of Season II October 18, November 22, and December 13. (You will note that we have worked around the schedule of our likely Super Bowl Champion, Bills.) We will, of course, credit any payments already made for Season II. Tickets are available for $35 per performance but the payment of $210 gets you seven seats, regardless for what combination of days, or people, the tickets are used. Please purchase at door: doors open at 1:30pm (Morris Avenue Entry)
